The G1 series was not high art neither, but they are more enjoyable then the live action movies IMO. At least I find Spike in the G1 series to be enjoyable then Sam in all three movies.

They're films in the sense they're projected at movie theaters. As far as anything else is concerned, no I don't see them as such.

They're still narrative films with plots and characters, just not good ones.

I guess there's still room for debate on this, but it is my belief that judging Michael Bay's films as such completely misses the point. They're not good films because that's simply not their goal.

Personally, I don't care about Spike. NONE of the human characters in G1 were important or had personality.

I don't really understand the fan-worship the old G1 cartoon gets. Everyone says all the robots were well-developed and had distinct personalities when the only ones who remotely fit that are Prime, Ironhide, Megatron, Starscream, and maybe Bumblebee. The rest just had generic lines that might have fit the situation.

Sure Bay's Transformer films aren't great films from a critical point of a view but if you open your mind & not view em in a critical fashion and be a film elitiest then to me they are popcorn entertainment. Nothing wrong with that IMO, same goes for a majority of B monster movie films

Yes, because Revenge of the Fallen didn't have Shia LaDoofus making an ass out of himself at all, and one fight scene equates the quality of the entire movie.

I'm fine with the happy medium that all three movies blew chunks. Just the second one a bit more than the others.

At least the Shia scenes in ROTF were overshadowed by the multitudes of action scenes and set pieces. Unlike Transformers 2007, where the high point consists mainly of Optimus getting his ass kicked for 5 minutes and then getting saved by a lame deus ex machina.

Um, no not really. The forest fight was the only thing the movie had going for it. The rest of it was unfunny comic relief on a wacky adventure that for some reason the filmmakers expected us to take seriously when the majority of characters in the actual film weren't. All climaxing with a final battle that was noise, noise, noise combined with incoherent imagery and disappointing outcomes. My favorite of which was Optimus's sudden accessories set, where I actually pointed at the screen and screamed "TOYS!" at its sudden apperance.

I honestly think it too more time for the Megazord to defeat a typical monster, than it did Optimus to beat the Fallen.

Really ROTF and DOTM had just much human scenes as the first movie did. I still found DOTM to be my least favorite due to it's stupid plot twist, how they killed off the characters and the movie was so dry to watch.

At least it was Optimus who got to beat the Fallen, and not some conveniently-placed scrawny kid who conveniently had a giant cube that conveniently instakills any transformer. You want a disappointing outcome? Because THAT outcome was far more disappointing than watching Optimus simultaneously manhandling Megatron and the Fallen.

Shit, I've seen generic nameless Kaijin get manhandled and STILL come across as more competent than Megatron does in anything post the first Bayformers.
