You can wait for the Trade, ya know. :P

Only problem is that I can't. I have SERIOUS problems with OCD. If I collect even ONE more than normal, I must start a collection.

Which is why I have EVERY main series Pokemon game EXCEPT for Crystal... And it bugs the shit out of me.

This sounds hardcore. I've read the paperbacks of Kingdom of Monsters and Gansters & Goliaths, and I enjoyed the miniseries far more. And what I'm hearing about Legends makes me eager to check out, so another miniseries has my ears perked already. But this?

I'm skreeonk sold.

Y'know, his art is a bit more Masamune Shirow than Katsuhiro Otomo...

I'm sure it's not following the Showa series literally. Just taking inspiration from various eras.

Yeah, and?

All that means is that it takes place (at least partially) during the actual "Showa Era", but is certainly doesn't mean that the story will be written to exist in-canon with the '54-'75 films. Nothing in the announcement suggests that it will, either.

You could probably just think of it as an "alternate universe" version of the Showa series.

I guess we got World War G - in some form - in the end. Now I do not feel dumb having a "I support World War G" sig at some forums for 3+ years.

"What's great about the movies, is there is no hard continuity," said editor Bobby Curnow. "The Godzilla movies of the '60s are not necessarily part of the history of Godzilla in the '90s. So the films themselves support this type of approach. No difficult history to get bogged down in. Just jump in and enjoy the ride."

Glad to know Bobby researched Godzilla thoroughly before commenting. The 60s movies have NOTHING to do with the 90s movies. And the 90s movies DO have hard continuity. Even though the time travel is sloppy, it's HARD. Jeez.... Im not buying this.

I swear if you showed Bobby Ninja Scroll and Ninja Resurection, he'd called Resurrection a sequel.

Ninja Scroll!! Man, those were the days...

Akira, Appleseed, Fist of North Star, Bio-Hunter....
(Never cared for Ghost in the Shell.)

Not sure yet about this upcoming Godzilla series. I like the 'Alternate Reality' mind-set, I suppose. (I feel similar about the recent Star Trek re-boot.)

This is great! I just got comic book store locally and I'll see if I can get the Godzilla comics from them.
I was mentioned in the SciFi Japan article about the appearence of extras on the Godzilla vs. Megalon DVD.

For some reason the anime style of the people here doesn't bother as much as it did in Legends #1 (no offense Mr. Frank).

Also, is it just me or does Godzilla always look kind of traced in some of these comics? He always has that flat look to him.

Between the fans and Toho most artists' hands are tied. Not everyone is Art Adams or Matt Frank, so fidelity to the source is constantly a concern. Compare Stokoe's Godzilla here to his Godzilla in World War G. Obviously, restrictions and probably the suit design are being forced on him from Toho and, in all honesty, his G suffers just a tiny bit. It's clearly nothing bad, but I really, really wish Toho would ease up and allow some artists to cut loose and do what they do well. Toho is way too precious with that stuff right now, but I guess they're trying to solidify an image and idea of Godzilla right now (Heisei to Millennium look, force of nature, etc.)...

Godzilla's legs are awfully long in the 2-page spread, and his neck is rather short. I think I'd prefer more traditional proportions, but it's just one piece of art.
