I don't believe we have a thread for the trilogy, if we do, feel free to lock this.

I am still on a spidey kick, and I have rewatched the whole film trilogy in the last few days. And I really have a different outlook on them since my last viewing.

When I last saw them (yeesh, like, over a year ago.) I Loved the first, thought 2 was overly boring, and that 3 was alright.

Now I have to say that the first is probably my least favorite now. It's just so off, if you ask me. It's goofy, it's serious. It's just so confusing. And the effects are pretty damn bad.

The 2nd one, has taken the spot of my favorite. It did everything right. I love the Doc Ock character.

and now to the most controversial of the films... Spider-Man 3. I still think it's alright. It's fun. And I like the Sandman. The ending kind of sucked though.

We had a thread. But it's old.

Anyhow -
Spider-Man: was good. I liked the entire film, EXCEPT the GG costume.
Spider-Man 2: MY favorite. Possibly in the Top 5 greatest superhero films ever. Had real drama
Spider-Man 3: Trash. Boring, disjointed, spasmastical. I hate this movie. It's X3 worthy shit.

As much of an asshole as SM3 was, the scene where Sandman comes together was pretty impressive.

I didn't think SM3 was that bad...

Me either. It's a fun Comic movie.

I think it would of been BETTER if they introduced the black suit, focused on the Sandman and (ugh...) New Goblin, only to end it with the church scene.

I will say this. I HATE MJ in the whole trilogy. She is NOTHING like MJ in the comics.

Spider-Man: Damn good movie. Action scenes could've had a bit more punch, but other than that, it was absolutely enjoyable. It kickstarted the "Superhero Movie" genre that Batman and Robin temporarily killed.

Spider-man 2: Phenomenal. It took what little shortcomings the first movie had and drastically improved them.

Spider-Man 3: Shit. Absolute shit. It was the biggest kick in the balls for me, especially from the fact that I was hyped for it for over half a fracking year.

True. Venom is awesome enough to deserve his own movie as Spidey's foe and not share the pedestal with two others.

Sony plans to release a new blu-ray set soon in May or June, I plan to re-watch those movies soon. It been while since I watch all three movies, but I do agree that Spider-Man 2 is the best in the series. The 3rd movie would be better if they got rid of the stupid dance scene and save Venom for the 4th movie. Or just have only Venom and Sandman for the 3rd movie. The 4th movie would end up being worst from what I've seen and I'm happy how the reboot is going.

I thought this trilogy was okay. I didn't care too much for any of them, but they weren't bad. I always thought SM2 was really boring, though.

This basically. It's no surprise no one wanted to do another one after SM3 was so bad.

They managed to take a lame villain like Doc Ock and make him awesome by simply replacing his spandex and visor with a tranche coat and sunglasses.

The first movie is hit or miss. The action scenes are great but some of the effects could have been better since it looks like it was made in the late 90's. Even back in 2002, I feel like that they could have work on them better. I remember that the first movie had some very hammy acting too.

Doc Ock was always awesome. he's had some good stories centered around him.
Doc Ock is really one of Spidey's better villians.

He's easily one of the most visually appealing comic villains ever created.

Oh and Spider-Man 3 would have been better without Venom. It'd have been better had it been the Sandman alone.

Easily. That whole script needed an editor with a chainsaw.

Well that and in all honesty Venom is an angsty betamale with Spider powers. Who's just mad Peter has nice things, and he wants nice things.

Goblin 2 was a rehash of Green Goblin, but not as lethal

Sandman was really the best villian of the three. And the most threatening.

Maybe could do without the whole "he shot Uncle Ben: thing. Still a man trying to save his daughter made for a more interesting villain than the other two combined.

Well and it's just flat out bad storytelling to have Venom appear so late in the film (literally right before the climactic fight).

why did they need to create a Goblin for the 3rd movie??? WHY?

You can OBVIOUSLY see the Hobgoblin mask in Harry's lair, and there are a slew of other goblins in the comics. Why did they have to go and give us that batman knock off with a flying snowboard?

Maybe Spiderman 3 wouldn't have been a train wreck if it wasn't for the executive meddling.
