You know who could pull off the effects they wanted to use for Hedorah. NRS. Now I'm not saying they would make a good Godzilla game but if you played their recent Mortal Kombat you see they pull off particle effects off very well for Scorpion fire, Smoke's smoke, Rain's water, Skarlet's blood, Kenshi's spirit, the ambers for Freddy's intro and furnace, and Sub-Zero's misty breath. Now imagine how Hedorah's "living blob/liquid" effect they wanted to use in GU would have looked with that engine.

Drools.

It's not really about the team but the time, Pipeworks was more than good enough, but their producer wasn't the best, that's were the problem is, I would rather have Namco designing a 3D Godzilla Fighting game before Nether Realm Studios though.

Oh I agree I'm just saying the particule effects they wanted for Hedorah can be done if the team is given enough TIME. But yeah Bandia Namco, if you're reading this please make a Godzilla game. You already made several Ultraman games and Godzilla products, might as well. And please bring it to the rest of the world not just Japan. Thanks.

Kind of a weird idea but I think maybe instead of doing a new game first they should've done a next generation port of STE. They had to redo everything from scratch anyway and there would've been less pressure for new content so much as to just replicate what's there. And it probably would've taken much less production time, too. As a result, when they had to do GU, just reuse all those models like they did in the PS2 version, and spend the extra production time on fine-tuning story mode, etc.

Just a thought.

I own all three Godzilla Pipeworks games, I find them a stimulating and fun experience of safe sex.
As long as they improve what GU left behind.

In any case, whoever makes the next Godzilla game, I hope they follow these suggestions:

1. Consolidate your roster into one package; no more console-exclusive characters/monsters.
2. Bring back the Rage Moves.
3. The inclusion of Obsidius and Krystalak wouldn't be necessary for the next installment.
4. Fix the damn gameplay glitches!

In the case of the problems encountered with acquiring the rights to use King Kong, can't Toho make their own model of Kong instead of using Peter Jackson's model? Is the name of Kong itself the problem?

As far as gameplay goes, I haven't yet played the Wii version of Godzilla: Unleashed, so it's hard for me to sum up the gameplay glitches, since I've only played the PS2 version.

Kong is a trademark character. That is what is stopping them from using him. And if they DID have the rights to use him, they almost 100% would not use Peter Jackson's Kong.
Don't try to be something else. Don't try to be less. Great things are going to happen in your life. Great things. And with that will come great responsibility.

That and the real problem is that everytime they ask to use him in a game Universal keeps setting the price way too high ($1,000,000). Neither Toho nor any game company hired by them is gonna spend that much just for one character. Godzilla and all his monster buddies on the other hand only cost $25,000 to use.

EIDT: Made a typo, Godzilla and all his buddies only cost $2,500 each.

Well that's a shame. They make so much money with their movies anyways; lowering the price tag to rent out Kong wouldn't kill them, would it?

Or, OR, they can just have their own giant gorilla monster under a different name. Problem solved. Kong's image is impossible to trademark, because he's just a simple Gorilla, with no real distinction beyond his size. He's just a "name" character.

I Made a typo, Godzilla and all his buddies only cost $2,500 each. King Kong still costs more then all 23 of the G:U monsters put together.

That was my secondary thought there. Plenty of other franchises feature a giant gorilla; Donkey Kong, George from Rampage, the two ape-gods from Primal Rage, and the Kongar character in War of the Monsters. Well, aside from that, has Universal copyrighted Kong's powers from King Kong vs. Godzilla, or does Toho have the rights to those instead?

I think I may have thought of a suitable name for a "Kong knock-off" (not much of a statement there...). Playing around with the kanji's for Great, Thunder, and Ape, I came up with this name: Dai-raien. The kanji used are these...: 大雷猿 (Dai Raien/Large Thunder Monkey). This was used with google translator, so I doubt the authenticity of these translations, buuuuuut...it's a start.

大雷猿: Dai-Raien (large thunder monkey)
雷猿王: Raien-ō (thunder monkey king)

Seriously, there's a lot of internet forum terminology that I am simply not aware of. Please explain to me what 'skreeonk' and 'to bump' mean in forums such as these.

"skreoonk" is the forum's censor for the F-Bomb.

"Bump" means when a member posts in an old thread.

Well, when you put it that way, I guess I used 'skreeonk' it its correct context. As for 'bumping' this thread, it's better late than never to post anything. Why bother creating a new thread if the old thread (of the SAME topic, mind you) already exists. In my old-fart philosophy, there is no such thing as an old subject. You got your two-cents about it, post it; no use in letting your idea or opinion go to waste because you lost your opportunity to say it in the first place. But, that's just me; I cannot speak for everyone else. Personally, I find it childish; getting after people for commenting on an old thread. Like I said, why bother creating a new thread when the old thread already exists. That's like redundancy. Keep it simple and consolidated.
Besides, if Living Corpse wants to call me out on "bumping" a thread, he (or she) should also remember that he/she posted on this same thread not even 8 days before.
Note to Living Corpse, the whole he/she thing was not meant out of disrespect; I simply have no means of identifying his/her gender...or the possibility that he/she may even be a plural (a collective of people replying under one user name; I...don't...know.
The reason I responded in the first place (before the whole 'Who the skreeonk bumped this up?' comment) was to put my two-cents on the whole Kong name issue. Reason it took me 8 days to get to my reply was due to real-life issues; job responsibilities, motorcycle title transfer (I can't say any more than that...need to think of OPSEC). And, I find it unfair for calling me out on replying to old threads without considering real-life circumstances. Am I gonna call you out because you decided to post something on a thread that was 4 years old? At first, I would be tempted to...but then, I'd have to consider the possibility that you might have come across issues much more pressing than replying to a forum. It happened to me...so it might have happened to you; who am I to say? It would be unfair of me to weigh that sort of chastisement on you for something so trivial.

Replying to an old thread? Better late than never.

[Update] Actually, I have to correct myself here. The only time it would be inappropriate to respond to this thread would be the (probable) time when Pipeworks comes out with a new Godzilla game (post-Godzilla: Unleashed and exceeding expectations, mind you).

I just think it'd redundant to use this topic anymore when a new game is already being planned.

When we open up boards for specifically discussing the new game, I'm considering a section just to discuss the past games. I'm often tempted to defend certain choices, or explain certain lapses, but I generally decide against it. It might be fun to have a place to get all that off my chest.
