Gamera the Brave. It's often overlooked because it came after the excellent Heisei Gamera trilogy, and it was very different from those movies. I think it is very well-made and enjoyable. 8/10

Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Special Edition)- It had some nice new scenes, but then it also cutted out a lot of the slow but fun scenes from the theatrical version. Ultimately in the end, the Director's cut version is the way to go.

30 Days of Night- Decent and interesting vampire film but it could of been much better. The vampire vs vampire fight at the end was just pathetic.

Sisters came over, since I didn't really have any "kids" movies to watch, I just showed them Gamera The Brave. They enjoyed it.

Star Wars Episode 5 the Empire Strikes Back

It was a good movie, one of my favorite movies, when I was seven Chewbacca used to scare the shit out of me, but now he doesn't, my favorite part of the movie was when Darth Vader told Luke he was his father, that scene never gets old. I also liked everything Yoda said like, "No, do or do not, there is no try.", but I never understood why Yoda was crazy before Luke knew he was a Jedi, the part when Yoda ate Luke's burrito, or whatever that thing he was eating, was priceless. The movie was great, I always liked when Han and Leia kissed. Overall I give the movie a 4.7/5.

Grave Encounters
SPOILERS
Okay where do i begin, the first scene is a obivious that this will be found footage. He show us this footage of a rip-off to Ghost Adventures and the actors in it are are main chracters.

There going to an insane asylum/hospital for the crazies. One thing that bothered me is that they paid this random mexican guy to say he saw a ghost.

(Im not going to go forever on this because all of of sudden i logged out. So i won't be able to type it all over again.)

Soon after they did there interviews, they decided to setup up there equipment, well matt does. They go looking for ghost but didn't fine anything.

They go back to their base while matt goes back to get the equipment when all of a sudden he is lured into God knows where. After they learn that he hasn't came back they went off looking for him, after there search they decide to leave and I don't know look for him later i guess. Okay what kind people would leave their own friend in an insane hospital where there are insane peoples ghost that still haunt the place?

Okay let me make this short.
The Ghosts looks like the zombies from fallout
When everbody dies they vanished, so where do they go?
Everybody dies
The ending is stupid and creepy.
The caretaker never shows up?

I rate this movie 3/5, it's really Ghost Adventures meet Paranormal Activity type stuff.

A very under-rated and almost ignored kaiju movie, IMO. I wouldn't hesitate to throw the dub on and have my children watch it, aside from a bit of "monster gore". Certainly a cleaner movie than the Transformers franchise and their much more mature themes and dialogue.

Pixar,s UP: I watched the other day on Tv and i didnt had a lot of high expectations about
it, but actually it was pretty good i enjoyed the movie from beggining to end, althought
at timesthe mvoie felt a little overtop (Like a couple of dogs in planes but the other Pixar movies were
the same in that aspect) but it gave it a little comedic feel after a lot of depressing moments in it
that i understand why someone would cry on it but i didnt (although i feel really bad at those times)
overall a great movie, great score, good moments, I recomend it to everyone who havent watched it.

8.5/10.
Unstoppable Fury , Unthinkable Power , Unbreakable Will.

The Happening - This movie is pure comedic genius. Unintentional genius, but genius nontheless. Love everything about this movie, from Mark Wahlberg's "performance" (in the loosest sense of the word), to dialogue that never ever feels the slightest bit natural, and characters outrunning the wind, it's just a blast. Oh, and a word of warning: oxygen obviously can't get into locked houses, so be careful about closing your doors and windows lest you suffocate.

Ils (Them) - French film that sees a couple terrorized in their isolated home by a group of mysterious hooded figures. Very believable and classy horror film that doesn't rely on excessive gore and violence to scare the viewer. All about ratcheting up the suspense, and there's some pretty great sound design as well. The ending reveal, when you see what is underneath the hoods will definitely make or the break the film for some, but I really dug it. Very unsettling payoff.

Manhunter (1986) - LOVE this film. Personally: 5/5. Critically: 5/5

Silence of the Lambs (1991) - LOVE this film as well but not as much as Manhunter. Personally 4.5/5. Critically: 5/5

Hannibal (2001) - Good but not great. I enjoyed Hopkins in it, sorta wish they'd worked in some OTHER characters. Personally: 3.5/5. Critically: 4/5

Hannibal Rising (2007) - Interesting but dragged in areas. Dont know how much I liked the idea of Hannibal being traumatized as a child and his lack of civility in this film compared to Hannibal. Also didnt like any of the cast. Personally: 2/5. Critically: 2.7/5

Tonight watch Red Dragon (2003) and The Omen (1976)

Judge Dredd. God this movie was... meh. Really can't hate it, but after Blair Witch and Highlander, it's not as appealing to me.

The Incredible Hulk with Edward Norton on Blu-ray.

In prepping for the Avengers movie, I've started to watch the movies that tied in that I haven't seen yet. But as a stand-alone movie: it was awesome. I really enjoyed it. Lou Ferrigno(sp?)'s cameo was awesome and of course the obligatory Stan Lee cameo. I wonder what his cameo will be in The Avengers? I thought the battle at the end was awesome. So far, I've really liked the Marvel movies even though I don't follow the comics.
Poor Banner, about to get laid by Liv Tyler and can't get excited or Hulk shows up. Damn that sucks.
I was mentioned in the SciFi Japan article about the appearence of extras on the Godzilla vs. Megalon DVD.

Last night I watched...

Hulk (2003): I like this movie. It is a different take on the character. My only complaint is the hulk is a little TOO green. He looks really fake in some scenes.

The Incredible Hulk (2008): FAR FAR superior to the 2003 film. I love how essentially, it's a big budget adaption of the Bill Bixby show. Which I have been a fan of since I was 5-6 when my grandmother showed it to me. And the Bixby and Ferrigno cameos are awesome. I didn't care for Stan Lee's cameo in this movie though. I thought giving him the role of the resturant (Ironically named "Stan's") owner would of been so much better.

Which reminds me... she would love this movie, I need to watch it with her.

Zilla, track downt the novelization of the 2003 movie. It adds some perspective to the film.

Deep Sea Monster Raiga (2009)
I'm quite certain the filmmakers and the cast were all under the influence of a few things when they made this movie. Depending upon your thoughts of it, that's a good or bad thing. One thing we can all agree on: this movie is a COMPLETE cheesefest, from the ridiculous acting to the propostrous dialogue to the amusing "effects". I have to admit that on a certain level it's entertaining, although there's no way I could call it a "good movie". In that sense it's rather like Reptilian (1999), except this is probably better overall. So in spite of the low score, if you can hunt it down, it's worth a watch for any dedicated kaiju fan. If you aren't (in which case you'd not be reading this), you'll need a certain sense of humor to accept it. Am I remembering correctly that two different companies hold the rights to Reigo: The Deep-Sea Monster vs. the Battleship Yamato and Deep Sea Monster Raiga? I wish we could get a nice cheap release of these.
4/10

Gappa: The Triphibian Monster (1967)
Nikkatsu Corporation's first and only entry in the giant monster sub-genre is actually not too bad. It's certainly not a great movie or anything, but compared to some of other giant monster movies from around this time, Yongary, Showa Gamera films, etc, this is comparable. The (simple) story is awfully similar to Gorgo (1961) and therefore can appeal heavily to young audiences; I like Gorgo a lot more but that's personal I suppose. The practical effects and suits actually compare to a lot of these other 60s and 70s movies as well, although the Gappas themselves as a design are hard to take seriously to the point where I don't know if kids would think much of it either.

Warhorse (2011) -
Personally: 4/5
Critically: 3.5/5
Another Spielberg film that he takes the novel to new heights. It's rather forgettable though and a bit too long. Most kids arent going to do 2 1/2 hours. The ending is happy if not predictable.

We Bought A Zoo (2011) -
Personally: 2/5
Critically: 3/5
I still hate Matt Damon. The little girl is cuter then Dakota Fanning and 9000x less annoying. I couldnt get too much into this movie because it didnt know where it was going. There were no clear antagonists and basically it was a string of half-assed plots. And Scarlett is still hot when she's done down.

Jurassic Park (1993)

My first time watching it in years. Now that I'm a bit older, I can really appreciate things I didn't understand or notice when I was younger. The film has beautiful fine grain photography, with rich colors and superb lighting. It has that "natural" 80s/90s look. The special effects still look as good as they did when I last saw them. The pacing was just right for a two hour movie and there was a great deal of fantastically executed suspense. This amazing picture still holds up today, and will for countless decades to come. 5/5

The Last House on the Left (1972) - I thought this was okay. Either make it a dark horror movie or a comedy. Not both because The tone shifts are jarring during the scenes with the cops. Other then the death scenes, the movie feel like it was rather dull. I don't know why people loved this film so much? I do like some of the music and the tone that the movie had 7/10.

Ichi (2008)
The story of Ichi has reasonable depth and would make for a deep but entertaining samurai flick. As a revisit to the franchise, this 2008 film doesn't seem to have had a great direction. The pace is quite slow even by Japanese cinema standards, and in the end there wasn't good attachment to the movie with a considerable build up to the end battle as in, say, 13 Assassins. Here, the ending battle sequence(s) are rather brief, a little anticlimactic in all honesty. It simply feels as though there could've been a lot more to the movie and it simply doesn't live up to the excellent premise. All of that aside, I did still like various elements of the movie and as a piece it's more mediocre and a missed opportunity than "bad" as I may have made it sound.
