A General Question about Ghidorah

Postby BBanzai » Sat Mar 24, 2012 5:17 pm

In all the many incarnations or variations of the monster, throughout the eras of Godzilla and the franchise in general, has anyone ever discovered if Ghidorhah's heads are autonomous? Does each of the three heads have it's own brain, making it capable of independent thought? Each head has eyes, thus I would assume that each has the ability to process visual images, but does this all funnel to one central brain, or can each head think and reason for itself?

If one head is "killed", does this spell the death of the monster in general, or can the other 2 heads carry on without? When Ghidorah is mechanized, it has one robot head, and 2 lie heads (if I recall correctly), and remains capable to action, thus implying that the loss of one head does not necessarily mean the end of the monster.

Thoughts?

I was ways under the impression they had some sort of main brain in the body, I remember reading that somewhere...don't know how reliable that source was

I Think that every head had the ability to think for itself but still survive the "One head Death" as seen in G Vs KG.

Both Heisei Ghidorah and Keizer Ghidorah have lost heads and have been able to keep on functioning, though death quickly followed in both cases due to Godzilla-related reasons.

Well Godzilla is the number 1 leading cause of monster deaths

I think the Multi-Brains/Central Brain are probably the safest bets unless there is an official source somewhere.

HMMMMM.....

The loss of the heads followed by death sort of answers that question, though again, as in the case of Mecha-Ghidorah, we seem to already know that one head can be replaced.

So, if each head, then, has a brain, or at least some cognition, of it's own, would it not be possible for Ghidorah to basically see in 360 degrees simply by rotating the two outside heads in different directions (one looks right, the other left), which would, for all intents and purposes, make it impossible to sneak up on it. Though, who would want to sneak up on Ghidorah anyway?

I imagine Ghidorah is something akin to the Hydra, in that each head does seem to be, at least somewhat, autonomous.

Basically, yes. King Ghidorah obviously would be able to control his heads in different ways and different times. I would imagine Ghidorah's heads looking in different directions, like his right head looking behind, his middle head looking up, and his left head lookingdown.

Each head fired at their own accord.

That actually happened in Godzilla vs. Gigan. Anguirus was sneaking up, but bumped some rocks, and Ghidorah swung a head around to shoot at him.

Yep and the other two heads just kept watching Gigan beat up Godzilla.

I've always been of the opinion that each head had a brain. The above example from G vs Gigan would seem to support that idea, as does the fact that Ghidorah can survive with the loss of a head.

Same here.

I hold to the idea that he has 3 brains, but all 3 heads "work together," if that makes any sense.

As for who controls the body, you could say he has some super-advanced nervous system that sends signals to and from each brain. One head says "we gotta turn around" and the other two go "ok, turning around!" That kinda thing.

Godzilla 2000 has an idea there. Each head may have a seperate brain, but the signals from these brains coordinate in some sort of sacral brain somewhere in the body.

I always thought Ghidorah had three sperate brains but then again they could all have the same brain but function differently, the middle head seems to be the one to control all the actions of each heads on some occasions.

I pretty much agree, although I don't think Ghidorah's quite that well coordinated. :)

I think King Ghidorah's displayed discombobulation is more the result of the SFX team, rather than the character concept. Only so much can be done with a guy in a suit with other guys pulling strings.

He was pretty coordinated in Godzilla vs Gigan. But that's just one film and they probabaly were worried the old suit would fall apart if they moved it too much.
