How a whole species has gone undiscovered in a tiny part of New Jersey for decades is quite amazing. Especially with, you know, all the people. Camping, touring, living there. And major highways going through. You'd figure someone would have hit one by now.

Oh, that's right. No one has.

The "men in black" just abducted anyone who hit Jersey Devils to keep them silent so that is why we haven't heard of any. ;)

That Hammerhead Fruitbat is cute :D

But anyways, I think just about all the cryptids exist somewhere in the world, they are just secretive.

sorry if this thread is dead, i really like cryptids though.
how come no one has mentioned the Scape Ore Swamp lizard man? i really do hope it exists, i think the idea of a humanoid reptile is awesome. ive seen a few videos(Not of the SOSLM its self), and there a little bit convincing. there was massive damage on that car. scratch marks all over it, review mirror ripped off, and a huge dent in the top of the car.

I dont find all cryptids interesting. Some just bore me - like Bigfoot.

Thundebirds, Champ and the Skunk Ape are all kick-ass though.

I used to correspond with the guy who was like the Champ expert.

Theyre not the same. Bigfoot is not a generic term for all apelike mystery creatures.

Bigfoot - large man-like ape from the Great Northwest (US and Canada).
Skunkape - smelly ape-like mystery beast from the Florida swamps.

Dude, why are you necro-posting all these threads?!

I was HUGE into cryptozoology a few years ago. I have a few books and even went to Vermont in 2002 to look for Champ. I find the myths AROUND cryptids to be more fascinating then the actual beasts.

I've always been intrigued by cryptozoology.most recently, its been all about aquatic cryptids.which brings me to an article i read regarding the ABC news footage of Champ
http://www.cryptomundo.com/bigfoot-report/abc-champ-video-3/

What do you guys think about it?

I think 90% of cryptid reports are bullshit, or simply do not have sufficient evidence accompanying them to make any determinations. However, it would be ludicrous to think that every species on earth has been identified. I doubt that there are any large mammals or lake monsters out there, but I'm not going to discount it out of hand. The idea fascinates me, though, because it gives the world back a little of the mystery and wonder it held when I was a kid and didn't know anything about anything.

Basically, at this point I don't think bigfoot and his ilk exist...but I really want them too.

The only species I actually think has a chance of being real is Sasquatch. Not to say that there aren't a ton of hoaxes etc. out there, but there is a fair amount of believable proof for his existence. Besides, its far easier for me to be believe that a bunch of hominids have lived in remote regions of the American wilderness for years than giant serpents live in our great lakes.

I believe in aliens. It's not like we are the only being in existence. And what if God is an Alien? Oh my....

I didn't think aliens technically fell under the category of cryptozoology.

I always though aliens, ghost and cryptids were in cryptozoology.

Cryptozoology, when regarded as an actual science, typically refers to species of animal whose existence that have yet to be completely proved by science. These typically end up referring to creatures such as the Yeti, Molkele Mbember, Nessie, Sasquatch, etc. Aliens, or the study of UFO's, typically fall under the even goofier science of Ufology or if regarding to the search of extraterrestrial life under Astrobiology.
