I didn't even know that. It's sort of ironic; as much attention I put into details, I actually overlooked that one. I learned something new today!:)

While Mothra's cry is definitely a sped up version of Anguirus', you hardly notice it in both the Showa and Millennium series, however in the Heisei Series, you definitely can pinpoint various Anguirus-like howls when Mothra emits a low toned roar.

Since nobody asked this one yet, I figured I'd give this one a shot:
How was Rodan's roar created?

^ I was about to ask that one. But since Rodan is taken...

How were King Ghidorah's cackles created?

Rodan's cry seems to be violin or cello based, as evidenced by this collection of raw materials.
This method also appears to be the bases for Maguma's roar.

I've always loved how Japanese monsters had the most creative roars and cries. Most US monster films made in the past 30 years or so always have to make every thing sound like a lion or a tiger or an elephant, without even masquerading the source of the roar. Love how many kaiju roars were made from musical instruments.

You know, I can never remember how they did Godzilla's roar. I know they used a stringed instrument and some sort of glove/mitten, but exactly what instrument & what "fabric" was used???

The weird thing about Mechagodzilla showa's roar is that despite it sounding like pressurized air, you can faintly hear Godzilla's roar in it if you slow it down. I first found this out when I was toying around with kaiju roars on Windows Media Player. The best one to try this is to listen to the ones he makes when Fake Godzilla attacks the oil refinery and slow them down, then listen very carefully.

It's not possible at all to do the sort in Windows Media Player. It is possible, however, to do that with Audacity...through a Windows operating system.

Really? My WMP allows me to reduce or increase the speed of the clip.

Wait...
That speed thing? I was under the impression you were referring to sound editing (like changing pitch and amplitude, etc). That option only slows the file down, but won't let you do anything else beyond that. Normally, when one refers to slowing the sound down, it also involves dropping the pitch. I couldn't do that with WMP. I completely overlooked that feature on WMP, but that doesn't really work in regards to sound modification.

Yeah. If you turn it all the way down and listen carefuly, you can faintly hear Godzilla's roar. Unfortunatly the explosions and stuff in the clip I posted make it ever more harder to hear.
