Speaking on side note for a moment.

If we did have to do an original game, what type of "Original monsters" would you like to see?

I think that "Pay $500 and you get to designe your own monster for the game" scheme would make up a good part of the rooster. And these monsters would be pretty diverse at least.

That could be a good time for artists around here to take requests. Heck, seeing as Matt Frank is in on this, perhaps sending him a detailed description of the monster would be enough.

With original monsters you can include variations of a wide variety of monsters from different sources/properties. We could get parodies/original versions of not just Godzilla monsters, but other Toho monsters, Gamera monsters, Ultraman and his monsters, King Kong, Cloverfield, the Megazord and Power Rangers monsters, Daimajin, Yongarry, Voltron, Gappa, old school western monsters (Rhedosaurus, The Blob, 50 Ft. Woman, Gorgo, all kinds of giant bugs), classic Harryhausen monsters (Ymir, Gwangi, the Hydra), Lovecraftian monsters, mmmmmaybe Mr. Stay-Puft? :) etc. Don't get me wrong, official licensed monsters would be cool, but there's SO much more freedom with original monsters.

For original monsters... I've always had a soft spot for an original kaiju did a few years back:

http://kaijusamurai.deviantart.com/art/ ... r-96968255

Matt described the comic planned for him as "Godzilla meets DBZ". Based on that, I could see something like War of the Monsters crossed with the DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi series. It would be expensive, sure, but it would be pretty damn fun.

Requests wouldn't really cut it, if you want your own monster to be properly brought out or finalized, you'll need to place an art commission out. Matt Frank might not have enough time on his hands so its best to plan an option B.

I agree, so much freedom, a great chance to include lots of variety and add unique monsters to the table. Plus it would be less expensive, though I would prefer
Arc System Works to develop the game along side with Mr. Strange and Matt. That probably would be a bit much.

Oh yeah and no WII. Console's fazing out very soon not to mention its ridiculous controls.

And a Wiiware game can easily be made for use with the Classic controller.

I say make it 360 and PS3.

I'm in the minority. My parents hate getting me consoles, and while I could've gotten a PS3 two years ago for Christmas, Sony got rid of the backwards compatability at the most damn inconvenient time for me. So I'm stuck with a PS2 and a Wii. The game could be a persuasive note I could use to get a PS3 if the game I was helping along its merry way was something I couldn't even buy.

I have a PS3 and PC, but the latter has a lot of stuff in it as it is. PS3 all the way.

What's with leaving the Wii out of everything? Sure, it isn't as good as the 360/PS3, but it's still a console nonetheless. The controls might be confusing, and people may bring up a GU complaint, but that was before. For all we know, maybe it'll be a fun game for the Wii.

Anyways, since I gotta make a choice somehow, I might be getting a 360, so maybe that'll work.

I believe those who are higher up should at least try and get answers/opinions from IDW, Legendary, G-Fest/G-Fan, and other companies on the subject of financing the development of a Godzilla game.

Seriously, I wouldn't mind an original fighter with fan monsters made real. It's just that I'd prefer we try and get the Godzilla game made. If all else fails, we go down the fan-financed 2.5D original kaiju route.

i say if they do it for the Wii,enable gamecube controller use imo.it worked for ssbb(different style of fighter, but i think the same idea of playing with either controller can work with a new Kaiju game)

EDIT: forgot to mention Ive got a 360

The Wii is left out because there's little to no demand for another Godzilla game or kaiju game to be developed on it at all. Most sites I've been on I've seen demand for it to be on PS3, 360, and some forms of PC and portal systems. I'm sure not many fans had a problem when STE was only released onto the PS2 and Xbox back then.

But like what Blackout said, if you have a Wii just mention it. If you have any other systems like DS, 3DS, PSP, or PSP Vita, then mention any of them as well. Who knows, a kaiju game on a portal system could work out.

That might be easier said then done, somewhat. IDW might be possibly if Matt or Bobby could pull through. I kinda doubt Legendary can help since they are more focused on the actual Godzilla film. G-Fan can work since we could put in ads and get the word out. G-Fest is highly possibly since you meet fans who might want to invest into the game, and you could spread the word out in a more exposed range.

I'm just saying it wouldn't hurt to try. Besides, Chris said he wanted to get this out to as many people as possible.

Maybe we could convince Legendary to let us put their Goji in the game instead...

Well, we haven't planned it out this far yet, but my inclination would actually be that Matt's primary duty would be to work with all the folks who payed for original monsters - to get official concept art with them, and hash out the details of the monster.

You see, it would be impossible to just accept, sight unseen, any monster someone wanted to pay for. Here are a few monster concepts which would simply be impossible:

1 - "Her name is Bactroid, and she is a tiny stone statue of a girl on a bench. She doesn't move, but her enemies are constantly subjected to bouts of psychic laughter."

2 - "My monster is called Ultra Planet Man, and he is so large that he has entire planets for hands."

3 - "My monster is a ghost, who doesn't interact with the physical world. But he can take over the bodies of his opponents, and make them beat themselves up."

To fix that potential problem, it would be necessary for each submitter to work with at least one member of the team, to filter out the impossible / ridiculous elements. It seems very reasonable to me that, at least as an option, submitters without strong visual art skills would want to work with Matt so that he could help realize their vision.

Hmm...Very informing, Mr. Strange.

From the post alone, I take it that the idea of donating say 500 bones will grant the payer the perk of adding his/her own monster is being tossed around for possible consideration? I know that it might be too earlier, but what's the forecast thus far? Sunny? Cloudy? Or Thunderstorm?
