Making it a PC game poses some problem - what controllers do we support? But it would dramatically lower costs.

Just to throw a number out there - every time you add DLC to a game, it costs $50,000 for Microsoft to review it. Sony is similar. A PC game is totally open - we can do anything, charge anything - it's totally up to us. I'm working on putting a game on Steam right now, so by the time we get around to this project I'll have an inside perspective on that process, as well.

I absolutely do not want a PC game. See, the problem is that I own a Mac, not a PC, so I wouldn't want this game to be for just a PC. I think most people here own an X-Box360 or a Playstation3, and at least with them, you don't have to worry about what kind of computer you own.

I dunno. I always thought that when people talk about PC's, they were referring to Windows. That's what I got from the conversation anyway. Although if I'm wrong, I'm not surprised. I'm not exactly big with computers.

Question tied to the Possible Kaiju Game: What Do You Have?

Postby ゴジラ » Mon Mar 19, 2012 4:27 pm

Question tied to the Possible Kaiju Game: What Do You Have? And what do you want this possible game to be on? (This is just gathering data about the members here at TK for Mr. Strange. I did not post this within the main topic since its mostly discussion and telling what has to be done. Asking this question could have been buried over by other posts related to what Mr. Strange has brought up so far. So doing this will keep the data well in check. Mods, I hope you'll allow this.)

1. Xbox 360
2. PS3
3. PC
4. Smartphone?

If you have more than one then vote for whatever you have and mention it within your post.

I'll start things off.

I have a PS3, and also an Xbox 360(Recently). I want this possible game on PS3 and 360.

I have 360, PS3, and PC. But I'd like for it to be on both of the consoles.

Well, I don't see a lot of members here talking about wanting another Godzilla game or kaiju game on the Wii. Most talk is about having it on the PS3 and 360. (Mainly because the Wii has some glaring limitations compared to the PS3 and 360). But if you have a wii, just mention it.

I have a PS3 and PC, but I don't use my PC for gaming so I just want this possible game on the PS3.

Voted 360. Obviously I have a PC as well (how else would I be posting this?) but it's an old, hardly gaming-ready PC. I've got a 3DS and a Wii as well. As long as the game is good, and on a system I own, I'm in!

Holy shit! How did I not know about this??? How exciting!!!

Question 1: Which set of monsters? Everyone in G:U except the original monsters like Krystalak and Obsidious. Add in Sanda, Gaira,Hedorah, Gorosaurus, Gabara, Kumonga, and Ebirah. As someone said, get rid of Biollante and make her a hazard, along with Manda, Xilien saucers, and the Gotengo.

Option #1 - A full-scale licensed Godzilla game.
I don't understand why anyone would want original monsters.

Question 2: What technology?
I think SD said this already but the fighting system from Save the Earth is the best one. Massive upgrades to the graphics would be nice so that the monsters look great on my HD big screen. Also, the building should look fantastic as you smash them.

Option #1 - Online fighting with fully 3D monsters.
Hell yeah!

Question 3: What platform?

Option #1 - Consoles.

PS3 is a must. Man. I really want this hypothetical game.

I would love to do a Godzilla game, but the more I think about it it seems really hard to accomplish. That's quite alot of money. We'd really need to get the word out if we were to reach the minimum.

As for monsters, Gorosaurus. That is all.

Exactly the main reason I support it as a PC game more than anything: lower cost. Also I like to think we could mod a bit.

Will take PC or X-Box 360. Though I would like in on 360 more.

Oh yeah and no WII. Console's fazing out very soon not to mention its ridiculous controls.

I've never played a really good PC fighter, though I do prefer my gaming on the PC.

Just today, I'm feeling much more optimistic about a 3D PC game (which includes Macs and linux).

Imagine if the game were free - or very cheap - and available on Steam. We could keep adding more monsters each month or two, contributors could start testing the game within a few months of development, and we could tune / tweak the game at a moment's notice... forever.

If we made it with all original monsters, it would certainly make it possible to potentially add a "TOHO expansion" at some point - of all the TOHO monsters. Showing them an established game, with an established fan-base, might help that along. (I'm also happy to get the TOHO monsters at the outset...)

And indeed, a PC game would be so cheap... probably half the price of the console game, and more flexible to adjust. It would also improve networking, and matchmaking potential.

Finally, current consoles (360, PS3) are circa 2005 top-of-the-line computers, so almost any PC running today would be able to handle the technical specifications.

Finally, there are more than 10 times as many PCs out there than consoles. In America. The potential player-base is immensely greater for a PC game...

Anyway, that's where my thoughts are taking me today.

I like it. With the rumored Steambox and all, it seems like an even better idea. I say go for it. I have always preferred my gaming on the PC, and this sounds like a good market for it.

The rumors of the Steambox were denied and debunk by Value some time ago.

If it turns out to be a computer game, I won't donate.

I don't have the proper capabilities to support 3D PC games. I can't really play anything more then GBA roms.
