As soon as I saw that little back and forth between Captain and Donkun a couple pages back, I knew Fairy Mothra did the right thing by prematurely closing that KOM thread a little while ago. People questioned it, but I personally think she was smart enough to see how it was all going to play out.

No, I think it's more the fact that SD called out Aktion telling him not to post in the thread and Aktion did because well SD has about as much power to stop anyone from posting in his threads as a stick. It was more or less locked to avoid the inevitable bitchy shit storm of hate that personaly remindes me of how a 10 year old reacts to their parents when they don't let them have their way, that would ensue from Aktion posting when SD came back from being banned. It kinda happened anyway but I highly doubt it had anything to do with trying to stiffle an opinion, if that was the case I'm sure the topic would've been deleted completly.

I don't mind that SD hates the comic, but the other guys hit the nail on the head. SD went about it in a really immature manner that is completely consistent with his typical arrogant attitude. Seriously, I hate to be such a jerk to a single member, but this guy really rubs me the wrong way.

It's not that he's not allowed to talk about how he doesn't like it. It's the fact that he's making a complete ass out of himself, and if someone rebuts him, he just goes "WROOONG! You're stupid! Let me explain why my opinion matters more!"

I'm probably one of the few who actually likes SD's sarcastic arrogance, but that wasn't called for.

For me it was more that his opinion isn't any more important than anyone else's, especially to the point where it would deserve it's own thread. If it had played out in the regular KoM thread I might have let it go on a bit longer, at least until things escalated, which is obviously inevitable with those two.

Sorry, no. And if you make another thread for your own opinion when it belongs in a pre-existing thread, you'll get a warning. You have to follow the same rules as everyone else. And if I see you so blatantly flame-baiting Captain Aktion or anyone else again, you'll get warned for that too. I may not agree with anything Aktion says either but you're really overdoing it. Take it down a notch.

I dunno if I'd say I was trying to escalate things with SD. I even tried to apologize and bury the hatchet with the guy, here and in PM, but he's not having any of it, so what can I do? I guess just put him on ignore rather than try and work out our issues. And thanks FM; nobody has to or needs to agree with me, but thanks for recognizing that my opinion is as valid as anyone else's.

I remember when SD went all angry for someone's opinion on the Star Wars prequels. I can understand the hate for Episode I but it seem like that he was "Your wrong since Episode I sucks no matter what". I think he even said that Godzilla vs. Mothra: Battle for Earth and Batman & Robin where even better then Episode I?

I've got to say I think the "ignore" feature on this site is pretty dumb. It really doesn't give people the chance to make up, and it's pretty weak to go through life tuning out everyone who pushes your buttons or says things you don't agree with. I listen to Rush Limbaugh every day on the radio. I find most of what he says to be detestable but I think it's a good thing to listen to people you don't agree with. Every once in a while, they'll be right and you'll learn something.

If you put someone on the ignore list that pisses you off, or who you are bound to have an argument with, it significantly lessens the chance of threads getting derailed or too heated. Some people are too stubborn to be reasoned with, so a good option in that case is to put them on the ignore list. Sure saves a lot of trouble. Of course, some people have the capacity to let things go without resorting to the ignore list. But, as it is made evident on this site regularly, many people lack that capacity.

It's not useful if you just use it willy-nilly but if you pick your battles it's dead useful.

I used to fight with goddamn near everyone because there were a handful of members I'd had trouble with in the past, and it got to the point where if I argued with anyone once, I pretty much considered them an enemy and kept on arguing endlessly until mod intervention occurred. I was a pretty shitty member for a long, long time, because I got paranoid and was convinced every damn member hated the shit out of me, when most of the ones I argued with didn't really give a crap who I even was.

And since I started using the "Ignore" feature - even though I usually press 'Show Post' anyway - I haven't gotten into any arguments, and most of the people I had issues with I tend to agree with and/or leave alone. I've really settled down and I no longer feel inclined to check my posts to see if anyone's tried arguing with me. The paranoia's all gone, and the people who I didn't like I can avoid.

Obviously, no, there isn't an "Ignore" feature in reality, but if there's one available, why not use it? Besides, it's not like we just PM each other and say "Sorry man, we cool now?"

People just need to stop taking things so seriously. In my case, yeah I act pretty condescending in the FM's (as RZK has pointed out), but any other time I have interacted with him in another topic he doesn't immediately starting harassing me for being condescending and I don't harass him because I had a different opinion than him on some subject. A lot of people on this site treat others like they insulted their family's honor or something over a difference in opinion on a completely unrelated topic.

One thing I'm getting sick of is the constant reposting of information or pictures that are new. Its like when something new comes out, no one bothers to read or look through a thread and see if others posted it. Matt Frank's cover for GODZILLA #2 comes to my mind immediately.
