Help - Which Godzilla is this?

Postby BigBaragon » Fri Mar 16, 2012 5:46 am

:eh:

I have a Godzilla vinyl that I got maybe ten years or so ago. He is marked "1999, 2000, Bandai" along with some (I'm assuming) Japanese text. He is, I believe, the 'Final Wars' version, and he has translucent orange/yellow spines. I'm pretty sure that he is in the 6" scale, but he could very well be 8", I'm far from an expert.
I checked out the figure database here on this site, and searched for him over at 'ClubTokyo' as well; no luck!

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

That sounds like the Godzilla from Godzilla vs. Megaguirus.

Thanks, you guys move FAST here!

Wataru, it looks VERY similar to those, yes, though the sculpt isnt EXACTLY the same. Also, this one is cast in ALL GREEN, NO other color splashes/details other than the majority of his spines being cast in translucent orange/yellow. (And the few that taper towards the end of his tail are a burned-out ash white.)

RedKing, You MIGHT be correct......I also have two different Megaguirus' insects, so they very well COULD have been packaged as a set....very interesting, thanks!

As soon as we are able to grab a new camera, I'll be able to take pictures of anything and everything that people here might like to see. I havent got a 'massive' collection by any stretch, but I have some cherished favorites like the Bandai Kong, Baragon, and Barugon. I love them dearly. :D

RKZ is probably right. That's from the 2000 GxM set. It's not 'rare', but it's 'uncommon'.

Yup, I clicked that link....there he is, the one with the orange spines. Dunno too much about 'rarity', but they are 'worth' a whole lot, to me. Not a big fan of the more 'sleek' Final Wars Godzilla, but those Megaguirus bugs are very cool. I'll have to watch that film at some point....

What does everyone think of this supposed "re-boot" of Godzilla coming soon? After the previous (horrid) American G, I have my hesitations, but I'm still looking very forward to seeing whats in store. A combination of the recent Gamera films and Cloverfield would suit me just fine...
(LOVED 'Final Wars' as well - it has elements of a 'living' comic book with very loving homages to Destroy All Monsters, just saw this one recently.)

Thanks! 8-)

I have the Godzilla x Megaguirus set.
It's one of those sets that I'd rather display in it's packaging. There is no way for me to display Megaguirus without it falling over its legs.

Sorry for hijacking your thread, but I can't find another one that covers this topic as well.

I would greatly appreciate if someone could help me identify this. I found it a few months ago, and I have no idea what it is. My guess is that it's some Ultraman baddie, but even I'm not sure.

That's Vakishim, an ultra monster. Yamakatsu, perhaps? It reminds me of the old Godzilla figures.

Well...it's "kind of" Vakishim.

I do admit that these old, rough-around-the-edges figures do continue to possess an odd charm compared to the hyper-accurate stuff, though. It does look Yamakatsu-ish, but damned if I know for sure.

I'm pretty sure Vakishim is only obscure in America.

Ah. I'm not aware of him. I'm not really into very many Ultra kaiju, though there are 20 or so that I REALLY like.
(Micras, Scylla, Gamora, Reicubas, Bemular, Black King, chicken-headed guy with bandaged hands, etc....excuse the spellings...)

I really need to see a comprehensive listing of the Ultra kaiju, with pictures....I checked IMDB and ClubTokyo, but neither are 100% thorough. There are MANY monsters that I know by image/memory only; I dunno their names...

Honestly, I don't know of any simple list of Ultra-Monsters with photos. The closest thing I've seen is the wikia here:

http://ultra.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Ultra_Kaiju

Unfortunately, other than the most popular ones, you'll have to open each article for a picture of the monster. It's neat for the people that know which monster they're looking for, but not so much if you're trying to identify one you don't recognize.
