In 1975 a show called "Himitsu Sentai Goranger" came out, after that many other sentai followed. Then Zyuranger came around, which was adapted into MMPR. And now they still continue adapting Sentai almost every year for the Power Rangers series.

Anyways, whats my answer? I really don't know. I have seen more PR than I have SS, but 80% of that was when I was a little kid, so I really don't remember. But Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger (my current avatar) is REALLY good and Gobusters (the new sentai that airs in a few weeks) looks pretty decent.

Like just about everyone else I grew up with Power Ranger, that's to say MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS. That catchy theme song, the zords, the villains especially Lord Zedd, Brings back memories. So Yeah, I'm going with Power Rangers the original. One last thing to say: I NEED DRAGONZORD POWER!!!

Hm didn't know that. Always figured MMPR was original, like I did when MXC was on Spike. Guess it kind of makes bitching about Hollywood not having originality a moot point, since they've apparently done this for decades.

I know, right? It's pure cheesy 90s synth rock music, and yet it's so addictive.

Speaking of MXC, took my head for a spin when I relized the teacher from Battle Royale was Vic on MXC. I did a double take when I saw him.

yeah, that's Beat Takeshi, aka Takeshi Kitano, a well renowned comedian and filmmaker of such films as Sonatine, Fireworks, Boiling Point, Violent Cop, the latest Zatoichi film, and the hilarious Getting Any. He's also the host of a couple more game shows, the very kind the Simpsons spoofed in that episode where they go to Japan.

It's the Japanese show that has its special effects footage used (Volcano Monsters style) to create the Power Rangers series.

You can say that again, never watch any of the other Power Rangers show except for Time Force, and Dino Thunder and they weren't bad at all, but they still can't top the original.

The others are ok but nothing can top the power of the Dragonzord.

Super Sentai. I can appreciate the country of origin, and how they try to entertain.

Imagine if you will--Your favorite American Live-Action show (Airwolf, Star Trek, Stargate, Knight Rider, Lost, HEROES etc...) any action/sci-fi show basically. They send it over to Japan. Completely replace the cast with Japanese actors, and only use the source material for action/ SFX scenes. Does it make you sick? I hope so. Thats how I feel about PR.

In PR defense however (to explain-I dont hate the fans, just the show). If I had grown up watching Ultraman with a replaced American cast, I probably wouldn't have known any better and bought into it.
There has never been a "Scientifically Accurate" Dinosaur portrayed on any Television Show, Movie, or Documentary. Only what the human imagination can conceive, and I'm ok with that.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. TBH I've never seen the show that PR used effects & such for. As a kid & even as an adult I still look fondly upon Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and I apperciate it for hwat it is and its theme song was catchy. For years I didn't even know that this was made from a Japanese superhero show at all.

It gets to be painfully obvious after a while to be honest

Especially when you learn Sabre Tooth Ranger was a man. Then just watching the action sequences that shows.

Yeah I know, it is quite jarring to see Sabretooth Ranger as a girl but then wear an outfit that doesn't have a skirt

Personally, I didn't know that Power Rangers was made from a Japanese show until Wild Force, the tenth season of Power Rangers. Because I was a kid who didn't really care about that kind of thing. As long as I was entertained, I really didn't care if half of the footage from Power Rangers came from a different show.

I wouldn't say half, it really depends on the series
In Space is a FAR cry Megaranger, so it's different enough to be called it's own show

Samurai though for example re-uses Shinkenger plots almost words for word (Save some sugar coating)

Though to my understanding their re-filming action scenes from Gokaiger to erase Goranger-Jetman out of the series.
Pity Jetman episode was boss as skreeonk.

It's going to be a while until they got to a Power Ranger-version of Gokaiger though, isn't it? Wasn't there another season of Super Sentai in between Shinkenger and Gokaiger? If so, do we know if they'll be making a Power Ranger-version of that first?

I would watch a Power Ranger-version of Gokaiger, but at this point in time, that feels like a fantasy that may or may not come true.

I've heard Goseiger will be glossed over so they can do Gokai when PR turns 20, an anniversary series for an anniversary series.
Toei just announced it was reshooting the opening scene a few days ago.
