The large scale 1991 Godzilla they showed on Comic Book Men was released in 1998. So you are wrong also.

how can you tell? I am actually wondering the differences between the releases.

To me he over paid by about $100. Regardless if he's never gonna play with it or move the tail. You should never pay over what something is worth, especially if's its been broken & repaired sloppy. It is a nice figure, but he over paid, pain & simple. :g2k:

I wanted to see this... damnit I'm gonna have to start recording

But the pronouncing of Heisei reminds me of how I pronounced it, I always said it "He-shee" too until I actually heard it get said by some else

Maybe that's nitpicking, but what if some "expert" called it "Arse-watz?" That's about as close to Heisei as this guy's "high-shee."

I know it's a proud American tradition to put ourselves above the "petty" endeavor of getting details regarding other cultures correct, but I think we're better than that. Or at least "experts" should be.

The man was clearing talking about Abolishing Godzilla or Godzilla embryos.

And that I have no problem with.

The embryo thing, of course.

Godzilla embryos coming to a local comic book store near you.

Also guys it's obviously pronounced 平成 get it right.

Yea, thats what I was referring to in the other thread. I knew there were some minor differences, but not enough to have it called a whole new style. It was nowhere as drastic a design change between Biollante and King Ghidorah and say 1985 and Biollante. It makes me wonder if that "expert" even had seen "Godzilla vs. Biollante" or if he only goes by which movies have been released in America on DVD (and assumed that they are all available). Maybe if he would have said something like "Well I'm not actually an "expert" like they say, buuuuut I know some basics."

And Berzerkgodzilla, that is pretty much how I always pronounced it to. "He-she". Oops!

How often do some of you guys even hear the word "Heisei" actually spoken in real life? Just about 99.99% of my Godzilla discussion happen on the internet. I almost never worry about how to pronounce this stuff, because I almost never have to. I don't think it's too much of a stretch that someone wouldn't know the right way to pronounce a word like "Heisei".

For the average dude, I'd say you're right. An "expert" should know, though. It's not even hard to find out. I did a google search on "heisei pronunciation," and the following is the first result.

http://www.forvo.com/word/heisei/

And as Hikizurubeat has subtly been implying, a mispronunciation of Japanese is not a minor mistake. Here's what the "expert" said.

http://jisho.org/words?jap=haishi&eng=&dict=edict

I don't know how many times I have to re-state this. An average dude would get a pass for such a blunder. An "expert" gets an eyebrow raise or a chuckle. Sorry if it seems like I'm being petty, but "high-shee" sounds SUPER dumb. lol

Not a spotlight on the show, but in the newest episode while the guys are going through the comics at the garage sale, you can see a built up Aurora Godzilla Model standing there.

thought it was pretty cool.

You know, considering this model was THE VERY FIRST THREE DIMENSIONAL TOY/KIT REPRESENTATION OF GODZILLA EVER MADE I think we could go a little easier on it than that, Chunkster.

^ The Aurora kit is isn't perfect, but it still holds up well on the "charm" scale. The head is off, but the body, the spines, they all add up to something that is recognizably "Godzilla". The same thing can not be said for most American Godzilla figures of pre-Imperial era. Remember that Shogun Warriors abomination? This was a pretty elaborate toy, but talk about ugly-as-sin...the bastard looks like Tor Johnson dipped in green paint.

Well that was interesting. They need a new Godzilla expert though.

Anyone else notice that the guy who brought the Godzilla toy was looking at a IDW Godzilla comic while they were waiting? Well I'm not sure if he was looking at one, but I did see the fold out cover for #1 of Kingdom of Monsters on a rack just beneath him and the page he was looking at has a green monster head on it, but it didn't seem too recognizable from that video.

It'd be hilarious if the Godzilla guy on the show turned out to be Legion the entire time. Though he looks more like Corn Hippie from G vs. Gigan.

One thing I'd like to point out: this is a goddamn comic book shop. By "Godzilla expert " they more than likely mean "some local guy who's a bigger 'Zilla nerd than we are." He's just a collector, like any one of us. Nitpicking anything he said is pointless, because rattled off misinterpreted facts like that happen here all the time.

Except when I post. I'm the greatest there is.
