Title says it all.

Me? The Search for the Giant Squid by Richard Ellis. A fantastic book of one of our planet's most elusive sea creatures. It discusses both the biology and mythology of the animal.

Warriors: The New Prophecy #4: Starlight. Been rereading the series out of boredom. Kick kinda faded, so I stopped burning through a book every other day, but I'm still moving forward at a good pace.

About ten MLP fanfics, and The Map of All Things, the second book in the Terra Incognita trilogy by Kevin J. Anderson. It's a fairly epic fantasy novel about two countries with rival religions that are stuck in a holy war neither can really win. Their only option is to send out ships to find a mysterious lost continent supposedly home to one of their mutual gods, and hope he'll help them. Very good stuff, I'd reccomend it.

Make fun of me if you wish, but I'm reading The Throne of Fire. I really enjoy Rick Riordan's contemporary mythology tales and have read them all except this one.

The Kane Chronicles aren't entirely up to snuff with the Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus books, but they have their strong aspects. So far it's an improvement over The Red Pyramid, but could lose that advantage easily if it's taken in the wrong direction

Heh. Well, those are just the incomplete ones I'm following but waiting for new chapters of. I read plenty of short stories and such, too. Plus there are quite a few I'm planning to read, just haven't gotten around to it yet. And I'd read even more than I do, but I've unfortunately developed this snobby attitude lately that prevents me from reading anything that isn't professional quality or close to it. With occasional exceptions, if I'm in a forgiving mood. There are only so many fanfics that meet my annoying standards. :(

On an unrelated topic, has anybody read Stephen King's Under The Dome? I got it for Christmas, and it looks interesting, but 1,000+ pages is probably a multi-week commitment I'm hesitant to make. Is it any good?

Ghosts/Aliens by Trey Hamburger. One of the funnier books I've read in a long time.

I thought the book was a good read, I'd recommend it if you can spend the time with it :)

I'm re-reading the World According to Garp because I felt like I learned quite a bit about writing from it. I have some other John Irving books coming in the mail, so I'll probably start one of those when I get them.

Death in The Dark Continent by late big-game hunter Peter Hathaway Capstick. It's basically a compilation of his opinions and some experiences hunting Africa's 'Big Five' (elephant, rhino, lion, cape buffalo, leopard), along with plenty of stories about the fates of less-fortunate hunters than himself. He tends to be a little over-the-top and probably exaggerates some stuff, but it's still a very entertaining book that rather makes one regret being a squeamish, out-of-shape nerd that only goes outside to get the mail.
