Aw, come on. It's greatest car chase in the history of film, and you know it.

That car chase makes the chase in Bullitt look like they're riding tricycles.

The stock footage just doesn't bother me here. It doesn't look so out of place as it does in Godzilla vs. Gigan. I'm not saying that it should be left there, but I don't think it kills the film like everybody says it does.

A woman protagonist would be nice, and a revised, more fleshed-out story would help it.

Would I change it? Hell no. I love this movie.

Treating the production like Mechagodzilla or even Gigan would've improved it a lot.

I honestly wonder if this film would be treated as harshly if it ended up being a vehicle for the Jet Jaguar character, which is what it was originally conceived as. Maybe the quality of the production wouldn't have suffered as badly if the budget allowed for more $ being allocated to building miniature environments, and only two monster suits (Jet and Megalon) instead of four.

For the record, I think Megalon's suit is pretty impressive, all things considered. He certainly looks the best out of the four, IMOHO.

^ Poor Gigan looked downright retarded in the film. I understand why they made a new suit, but think they could have done better.

Rodan had the same problem, actually.

Make it a direct sequel to Godzilla's Revenge. Give Ichiro a female friend to tag along on the adventure.

Are you crazy? Megalon needed more Robert Dunham chest hair. In fact, Robert Dunham should have been Megalon. Just a giant chest hairy gaijin in a toga walking around attacking stock footage cities.

You're only saying that because of your crush on his daughter.

Did you know that Dunham was a stunt driver? It's like being a Minnie Driver, but even better!

I actually learned that not long ago. It was surprising to learn that he drove the motorcycle in the car chase in this movie.

Interesting. It saved Toho money by having him act and do stunts.

 LOL. That's the first thing to legitimately make me laugh on these forums in quite a while. I I hope you don't mind getting sig'd, banana.

I heard through the grapevine that Godzilla vs. Megalon will be release on DVD. I hope it's the international wide-screen (and High-Quality) version, and not the poor-quality seemingly pirated versions that littered the 5 dollar VHS movie bins in Wal-Mart. Does anybody have a timeframe on its release and the anticipated quality of the release?

Media Blasters intended to release the film in October or November last year. However, the company has been facing financial problems, and Toho is being a pain in the butt about the extras, so there's no telling when it's coming out.
