What do you think Invisible Children is trying to do? They're one of the few organizations I can think of who focus on action instead of sitting around bitching. If you look at the Kony video, you'll see that for US policy makers it's not an important enough issue to commit anything more than 100 soldiers who won't even be doing any combat. The idea is to make it an important enough issue to leave elected officials no choice but to do something about it.

I hear invisible children isn't even that great. Only 32% goes to services and the rest goes to their travel fund and filming.

That may be the case for those who run the organization. But they do get people to recognize and care about what's going on in the world. Filming is what shows people how bad things are, so if that and travel take up a lot of money, that's fine with me. At least they're trying to do something and not pocketing the money.

It's for a good cause and Kony is definitely an evil person, but I think IC is kind of a bit behind on the times.
Several people say their campaign is pretty outdated and what not.

Take a class in Non-Profit/Not-For-Profit Organizations. All of the nice organizations and fundraisers you give money to do this.

An non-profit organization like Invisible Children will make money. However, they have to also pay their advertisement fees, production, travel, and pay their employees (<-- that is the most expensive). Now, how much of that money is gonna be actually left over for the cause? Plus, these organizations need to break even. Usually, if they break even and make more money than they spend, they give the extra to the cause.

That's if they break even.

So, 32% of their funds goes to the cause because that's the way the business and funds work. It is not because they're greedy bastards.

Sure I guess, but if they're trying to help they should at least update their information a bit at least.

They did mention that Kony is not in Uganda in the video...

Of course, I support anything that stops child slavery. I'm not giving money, though. I'm too poor for that.

Especially when the kids are forced to kill people or be used at sex slaves.

The US already has operatives hunting Kony down.

Invisible Children, on the other hand, gives money to military organizations which have also raped, looted, and facilitated in the recruitment of child soldiers, so they're pretty dumb.

You know what really gets on my nerves?

Me.

I sometimes hate this caregiver personality I have, where if anyone close to me is in discomfort or has had a shitty day, I have this unconquerable drive to make them feel better. Last Tuesday, my wife uninstalled Google Chrome against my wishes and under protest from me. She didn't see the point in having both Chrome and Firefox on the comp. I did. I like Chrome, a lot. It's way faster then Firefox and simple to use. She sticks with FF.

I said going by her logic, we could just as easily get rid of Firefox. They both do the same function, get on the internet. Neither is doing harm to the computer, nor are they in any way shape or form causing a detriment to either of our browsing. I prefer Chrome, she prefers Firefox. That justifies both their existences on the computer.

After some back and forth, she eventually played the "I bought the computer and I pay the internet bill therefor I can do whatever the skreeonk I want" card, and that was it. I let her know I didn't agree with nor respect that move at all.

Rest of the night, I'm pissed at her. Rightfully so in my eyes. She didn't respect me enough to come to a mutual agreement. Fast forward to yesterday, and she comes home exhausted and very, very sore. What do I do? Despite trying to remind myself I'm still very pissed at her, I make dinner, serve it to her in bed, and take care of the kids getting to bed. There's a very deep, deep part of my core that hates seeing anyone I care about in any pain or discomfort. I just wish it had an on and off switch.

Because they would be forced to fight Kony's soldiers (READ: his victims, children being used by him). This man is just...skreeonk him. Seriously he's forced some of his child soldiers to kill their own parents and eat the corpses.

So everyone should sit on their hands and let this guy get more and more powerful? The longer people wait, the worse this situation will get.

I agree that the sudden outburst in this is a tad annoying.

Hell, On my FB wall, 6 of my friends shared the exact same video. SIX of them. not just one or two...

I get that it's bad, and it DOES need to be stopped, but people acting this way about it NOW is the ridiculous part.

god, like 2-3 years ago, I learned about what was going on with Kony and the children, and my history class started a program to spread awareness.

Yes, yes. Next, we should discuss the rapes and murders committed by our our military and the private security forces they enlist.

I agree. I'm not a supporter of our military, and since I don't have a choice about giving them some of my tax money, I make a point of frequently criticizing their actions.

Situations been deteriorating for a while compadre

The LRA barely maintains a presence anymore

Mind you the Ugandan government IC supports is just as bad, and does the same things, and the video wasn't all that good.
Kony just isn't in Uganda, hasn't been since '06 and may already be dead.

The annoying thing about it, is how it, like all Facebook activism. Is full of it's own shit, people spread a message, then do nothing about it. Don't really give, don't volunteer, don't even stay aware. It's all self-gratification.

Frankly I'm tired of seeing it, intentions aside, it amounts to a whole shitton of nothing.

People who openly criticize ANY religion but are ignorant about it.

Sick of people who try to look smart by bashing a religion bashed on the zealots but know absolutely NOTHING about said religion. Then turn around and pervert it to their own needs, just like the religious fanatics theyre bashing.

When Im listening to music, and I somehow end up yanking the headphones out of my ears, or when the cord to my headphones becomes inexplicably caught on something and yanks them out of my ears. It happens every skreeonk time.

When some of my friends start relationships it gets kind of annoying because they ignore everyone else and brag/flaunt it.
I'm perfectly ok with people happy with their relationships and what not, but when they get super obnoxious with it just no.

People in relationships can be kinda obnoxious in general.
It really inspires on to say "Good for you" especially when it's co-workers.

It depends on the people. Some act just normal and some are just way annoying.

A friend of mine recently tried to do that.

Except it backfired horribly because the girl he started dating was schizophrenic and had chronic depression.
