Why would they do that? This isn't Smash Bros. Like I said, none of Capcom's Marvel games (much less any of their crossover games) have had "adventure" or "story" modes. I don't see why MvC3 would be any different.

Mission mode tells you how to do everything. You need to access the command list, and it tells you how to do what's asked. It's very simple.

KaijuSinCritic, I know where you're coming from, but the problem is, not everyone realizes how much more deep old Capcom fighters were (SF III:3rd Strike, MvC2, CvS2, SF 2:Turbo, SF Alpha series, any Darkstalkers games, etc.), and they don't really care. I personally think SF IV has nice presentation, but the gameplay is a steaming pile of shit, and many "top" players from MD./VA. feel the same way, so it's not like we're a small minority..but the thing is, SF IV was a huge hit, so Capcom feels they're doing things right by making these new fighters easier to get into. The issue is these new games lack the depth seen in those older games and that's why people like us, are frustrated.

Since 2009, I've seen so many people start playing SF for the first time in years, and claim "this is the best Street Fighter yet!", and I can't help but just bite my lip/facepalm when it happens. Almost all of these players never played the older games on a tournament level, so to them, they couldn't care less about "depth". As long as the game is fun, that's all they care about. Unfortunately, the people at Capcom know this, so we get garbage like Street Fighter X Tekken, which is some bizarre amalgam of SF IV, and SF EX 3, with random mechanics from old crossover titles thrown into the mix. They also added the gem system, as well as stupid "auto combos" for people who suck ass, and just "wanna have fun". Capcom lets new players be lazy, by basically telling them "You don't have to learn this game properly, we'll hold your hand so you don't have to!"

It's really sad to see, and as far as I'm concerned, Capcom's glory days ended with CvS2 back in 2001. Everything we've been spoon fed since then have been fighting games with high marketability (The Marvel Vs. brand, and Street Fighter series in general), but not much in terms of actual depth.

Odd that you call him a kid if he is in the same age group as you? I don't see why they can't make a game that can be fun for both tournament level players and casual fighter players as well? I'm a casual fighter fan and I don't go to tournaments, if people want to play games that are similar to the older games then just play the other games? I feel the same with shooters now these days since I still play Doom, Serious Sam and Duke Nukem 3D over newer shooters like Call of Duty.

Yeah, I'm no tournament player, so I didn't like MvC2 and I like SF4 more than SF2. But I do think SF3 is the best out of the Street Fighters and adore CvS2. Of course, I'm liking SFxT too, but the easy combo thing is silly.

So yeah.. damn old farts calling people 'kids'!

Can't say that I'm surprise since the 3rd edition would most likely just give us all of the DLC outfits into one and maybe give us two new characters.

I don't really see the problem. Most people want more DLC characters (that aren't on the disc), right?

Lol.

Yeah, I'm not surprised it was fake. I don't really care too much. All I want is Venom and Gambit, and I doubt they would have been included anyway.

Hmph, well they don't like you either! :P

Indeed, 3rd Strike and CvS2 are godlike. Very deep, high quality games. The last truly classic 2D fighters to come from Capcom, though MvC2 is definitely the best "slapped together mess" of a game I've ever played. It's incredibly deep. 12 years later, people are still discovering new things in the game. Also, anyone that tells you the game only has "4 playable characters" is full of shit, and obviously doesn't know how to play low tier. I main Omega Red/Ruby Heart/Cyclops most of the time and have wrecked house with that team for years, even against top tiers.

Well if a 3rd version does come out with more characters my gamestop gives me half off upgraded versions of games so if it has Venom, Megaman and maybe Asura I'll give capcom my money one more time.

Third Strike is a terribly overrated game IMO. Only redeemable factors are the music and health bars.

Game feels so slow and the parry system is awful. CvS2 is awesome though, easily the best 2D fighter out there.

First off, Goji.. they love me even if I don't like them too much. Second, teach me your low tier ways. I really wanna play Ryu/Spiderman/Wolvie without getting bodied by MSS.

What the skreeonk? That's definitely a hyperbolic response.

So this game is "slow", but you have no problem with CvS2? That doesn't add up. I have a suspicion you haven't really played either game that much, especially not 3S. The parry system is one of the best defensive mechanics ever to be put into a fighting game. Period. It was sorely missed in SF IV by just about anyone that actually played 3S prior to IV.

Shazam, I can definitely give you plenty of pointers. I used to main Logan/Spidey in the MSHvsSF and MvC1 8-) Maybe I'll start a MvC2 thread tomorrow, and just go from there.

Actually, Logan is one of my favorite Marvel characters in these Capcom fighters. I've been playing him since Marvel Super Heroes.

Ooooh~ does that tech work in MvC2?

EDIT: I just read the "Maybe I'll start a MvC2 thread tomorrow, and just go from there." part. :P

Good! Can't wait!
