Ya' know what would have helped? MORE DINOSAURS. Don't wave 'em in front of my face and then give me teen drama.

JJ is barely involved in Fringe. Same thing with LOST. He honestly just helps get the ideas rolling and then steps away.

I dont think a table of 20 people sit around and JJ says "Let's have Peter come from the other Earth.." then leaves and everyone else contributes.

JJ is like Stan Lee.

Except he isn't really involved in the creative processes of any of his shows since Alias. He comes up with the premise and then the individual writers work on it.

For example, around the time Star Trek (09) was released, there are numerous interviews where he expresses how interested he is in the current LOST storyline (the show's fifth season) and how he's curious to see how they pull off the ending. He's really just a producer. Similar to the role that Spielberg had on Terra Nova oddly enough, except Fringe has much more talented underlings.

I wasn't surprised by the show getting cancelled. It was too expensive for TV for one thing, and it had the worst pacing. I lost interest about the third or fourth episode.
