Apparently, that rumored Vemon-based, Spider-Man spinoff is still happening. And chances are, it will be tied to the new "Amazing Spider-Man"

Josh Trank (Chronicle) is set to Direct.

Read about this yesterday, fantastic news. I was disappointed with his portrayal in Spidey 3, so I've been waiting a long time for this.

I'm surprise that they are still working on this movie. I hope it will turn out okay and hope they pick out a good actor for Venom.

Venom is an awesome character, If they do it right the film will be amazing,... Though at this moment the chances of them doing it right are 50/50 i'll wait till i hear where they go with this before i get to excited.

I was shocked to hear this project was still floating around. Chronicle was a great movie, but I'm not convinced this is a movie that has potential. Especially in the midst of scrapped sequels and reboots of the Spider-Man series. It sounds like a mess waiting to happen.

Meh.

The classic Venom hasnt been Venom in yeeeeeeeears. Brock sold the Symbiote forever ago and has since become and retired Anti-Venom. I will admit the Flash-Venom is interesting, MUCH more then stupid Gargan-Venom but meh.

A comic would need to exist in a Spider-Man canon. And depend on that Spider-Man being kick-ass. And the symbiote being established either in a Spider-Man movie or half of the VENOM movie.

It wont work unless alot of shit comes off as "Amazing".

How about they just try to make a good Spider-Man film with Venom as the main villain?

That is a very good idea

Does venom have any good characters that he could fight, besides spiderman and carnage?

I know that when Venom was first introduced, he wasn't a villain. He even saved a baby. But people were terrified of his appearance. And that drove him to his villainous habits.

Glad to know there is a movie in the works. Lets hope that they can give Venom some justice unlike Spiderman 3
(which it was Ok, but not what ive expected).

I've only seen Venom as a villain, so I'm not sure he'll work as a hero. An anti-hero, maybe.

I guess that they would want Carnage as the antagonist for the film since their is not other choices that they can pick?

Yes! Now that would make a good film; Venom vs. Carnage (Title pending).

I'm all for seeing a live action Carnage, so I say let the butchering begin. One last thing to say: Kasady is gone, there is only CARNAGE!!!!

Meh. Venom really only works in the context of Spider-man. Eddie and Gargan Venom atleast. Thompson Venom is pretty fun, but I doubt we're ready for Black Ops Symbiote: The Movie yet...despite how utterly badass that would be.

Great to hear more news about Venom. I kind of like that it would have "some connection" with SM, But not
that quite.
