Is there a good place to buy the complete Godzilla series?

For the discussion of Toho DVDs, Blu-Rays, CDs, streaming services, VHS’, and other formats where Toho films and soundtracks can be found.

Is there a good place to buy the complete Godzilla series?

Postby Adonael » Fri Mar 09, 2012 10:20 am

The only movie I owned was a VHS when I was a child and that was eaten by my evil VCR years ago.

I'll admit it's been a real long time since I've seen any of these films, but I'm looking forward to getting back into them.

So are there any websites out there that have most if the films new? I would much rather support the mother company than see my money in someone elses pockets. If not I guess I will have to look through amazon and eBay.

Thanks in advance.

There's nowhere in U.S. where you can find the entire series bundled, but the Classic Media "Godzilla Collection" set is a good start if you're just getting back into the films.

That was recommended to me and it turned out to be one of the wisest investments I've made...great quality and a great price (I got it on Amazon for $18.00)

As others have said, there's no way to get all the films together in one set (at least, not in America). In Japan, Toho released a huge box set in 2004 that had all 28 Japanese films packaged together, but the set is very expensive and none of the films are subtitled or dubbed. Fortunately, all but three of the films are officially available on DVD here in America (the three that aren't are GODZILLA 1985/RETURN OF GODZILLA and GODZILLA VS. BIOLLANTE. GODZILLA VS. MEGALON is the third. It was picked up by Media Blasters for release on DVD and Blu-Ray, but it's currently waiting to be approved for release by Toho, which could take a very long time. There's no release date set at the moment.)

There is not one complete box set as far as region 1 dvds are conserned but the way to condense your collection into the most region 1 dvd box sets as possible without any repeats is this:

1) http://www.amazon.com/The-Godzilla-Coll ... 293&sr=1-1
2) http://www.amazon.com/Godzilla-Boxed-Se ... 473&sr=1-7
3) http://www.amazon.com/Godzilla-Collecti ... 556&sr=1-3

that is as much i believe you can do as far as box sets go, the rest i think you just have to buy seperately (the sony box sets with the showa godzilla films have gotten pretty expensive though since there now out of print so you might have to act quickly on some of these box sets before there all sold out)

now you will still have the buy all the dvds, but if you want to condense all of your boughten dvds so they take up the least amount of space i suggest this:

http://www.roberthood.net/miscellaneous/index.htm

if your interested in this i suggest you buy the covers from usplastics (source 2 on the website). You will have to buy a couple sheets of legal size paper, download gimp 2.6 or anything like this and dont forget to go to print preview and set it to landscape so it prints long ways... I did these self made box sets and i got pretty good results so i would recommend doing the roberthood boxsets

Most the Godzilla movies are available on DVD in the US, though some recently went out of print (Godzilla vs Gigan, Godzilla vs Hedorah etc.) and their prices can be rather expensive from some markets.
