I felt JL:D, while good, isnt upto snuff with previous animated films from DC. I also feel the same wth Batman Year One. These play out like 2-3 part cartoon episodes. Especially JL:D.

JL:D could totally be re-cut as JLA/Young Justice: Doom and just add Young Justice in following the JLA around. Batman Year One.... we all know my gripes about it.

Drive (2011) - Sexy. skreeonk. Movie. Absolutely loved it. The pacing got slow at points, but not too long after it slows down will a fork will get shoved in someone's eye to reignite interest. The fact this movie wasn't a bigger hit kind of disgusts me.

4.5 out of 5

Conquest (1983) - Extremely bizarre installment of Fulci's filmography and his only attempt at the swords-and-sorcery genre. It's entertaining, with some surprisingly interesting character arcs and some very well-done gore effects. The film kinda putters out at the end, but it's still worth a watch.

The Satanic Rites of Dracula (aka Count Dracula and his Vampire Brides)- I haven't seen any of the other Hammer Drac films, but this one was rather enjoyable but a bit lacking. I'm sure some of the others are better. There's not really much to the vampire brides though.

They are. Watch Horror of Dracula, my friend. The final fight between Van Helsing and Dracula in that film is excellent.

GODZILLA '98 - This movie is so damn lame. I'm entirely over the fact that this was suppose to be Godzilla at one point and the movie is still stupid. The film cannot decide how it wants the audience to react to Godzilla; do we sympathize? are we in awe of them? do we fear them? it just switches around at random. Godzilla attacks out of plot convenience, so moments of real tension or danger aren't present. Oh yeah, and Godzilla doesn't do anything. He just hangs out and is exceptionally non-threatening. But the best part is the horrifying inconsistency of Godzilla's size; this is best when he comes out of the sewer to feed. He breaks through the road, cut to a reaction from Ferris Bueller, cut back and Godzilla is three times larger.

I wish there were people who still ran around claiming this Godzilla is more realistic. Holy skreeonk I'd have a field day.

But it's not all negativity! David Arnold score is incredible, infact I'd love to see him come back to do the LP movie. The opening credit sequence is beautiful and you almost get the impression that they "got it". Also the characters are tons of fun; performances are a little buggy, but the characters are wonderful to see interact. Scientists, reporters, badass spies, it's all a good time.

But overall nuts to this movie.

I heartily agree. It's almost like opening of a real Godzilla movie. Come to think of it, the destruction on display during the film is overpowered by stock footage!

The Terror- Not too bad. A little bit slow, and bit of strange plot, but it had it's enjoyable moments.

Dororo: Let me start off with the first part. The ending. I didn't een understand how, or why half the things that happened happened. The rest of the movie before then was ok at best, with some pretty average special effects and a fair plot. I thought the girl lead was pretty annoying, with her damn drum and all. If you're going to see this movie, make sure you have two hours to waste...it's gonna be a long one. Two exploding demons out of five

The Sorcerer's Apprentice (2010) -
This movie is HORRIBLE. Nicholas Cage is the ONLY part of this movie worth watching but you could tell he hated it too. Jay Baruchel made me cringe everytime he opened his mouth. WTF cast this idiot?! UGH... and the product placement and Disney crow-barred in rape GAH!!
Personally: 0/5
Critically: 0/5

Season of the Witch (2011) -
A MUCH better medieval Nicholas Cage film. Dude it's got Ron Perlman in it and everyone does. So yknow it's good. The plot sorta went left field then all kinds of WTF shit towards the end. Witches? Nope, demon possession. The Crusade bit at the beginning was great. I felt the film should've gone into the 2 1/2 hour mark and pulled in some more religious ferver and dogma. Go for a more Omen feel.
Personally: 4/5
Critically: 3.5/5

Shark Swarm- This movie is just way too long. 2 hours and 39 mins. It's more like 2 movies in one, most of the time it's about some fishermen fighting against a corporation trying to buy their town and change it, while in the meantime sharks kill random people. There could have been a lot changed to keep this film shorter, and wouldn't have made anymore sense than it already does. It does have a few tense scenes, but nothing wonderful.

Act of Valor (2012)
My first 2012 movie of the year, I went in wanting to like this movie what with the Marines and all. It was well shot and edited with some exciting angles, and the action sequences generally looked realistic (but then again I've never been in those situations so what do I know). Unfortunately, the story was pretty unexplored and the characters were forgettable. The bad acting I read about turned out to be reality but I am giving a pass on that since they were active duty members and not Jason Statham. It feels a little unfinished in a way, and at times it felt like it wanted to have more of a message than what it was conveying. Overall, it was a mediocre movie and nothing more, nothing less.

Dino Wolf : Not as satisfying as I thought it would be, but still pretty fun. Probably hit just about every horror cliche there is. Had the whole cast of standard characters, with a twist or two. I really liked the sheriff's odd obsession with schedule and order, was an interesting (and fatal) character trait. Was sad to see him go down. The werewolf/hybrid thingy suit was charmingly bad, and I liked his gorilla arms. They reminded me of Kong's in King Kong vs. Godzilla, with that weird bend and everything. Gore was cool, lots o' blood flying and rubbery intestine pulled out. The whole psychic bond thing was weird, I just though it was sparing people who were nice to it/cared for it. The idea of an attack dog/wolf/werewolf genetically attached to you was awesome though. That could be a movie on its own, with the attack dog going crazy and killing everyone around to 'protect' the person its bonded to.

I totally wanna make bad horror movies. That'd be awesome.

Snakes on a Train- One of Asylum's worst. Disgusting and dumb. Everything about this movie was pure awful, the characters, the plot, everything.

King of the Lost World- Better than Snakes on a Train, but still terrible. Horrible CGI and characters. The plot went no where. Who allows these movies to keep being made? Ah right, I spent money on them.

Not technically a movie, but I just watched National Geographic's The Savage Garden, starring Leslie Neilson. This was one of my favorite videos as a kid, and now that we have a new VCR, I was able to watch it again. I still love it. The show features all kinds of critters & creepy-crawlies, from shrews to fire ants to daddy long legs. I do notice now that some of the sequences are obviously faked, but that doesn't bother me in this case. It's not like this is a "serious" documentary anyway. :)

Scarface: Definitely one of my favorite movies now. I loved Al Pacino in this movie because I was so entrigued by his representation of Tony Montana. He was psychotic, violent, and a prick, but I still felt that I wanted to be in shoes. By watching this film, I've even started to see references of it everywhere, especially in rap. In the end, I can't wait for it to come back on TV again.

2010: The sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey, 2010 seems more like a movie concerning Cold War tensions rather than aliens. In this film, the Russians and the U.S agreed to work together on an expedition to find out about the Discovery, but the harmonious click they found was killed by a possible WW3. the whole thing of them working together to flee from Jupiter when it became a new star was definitely a Cold War message concerning how the U.S and U.S.S.R could work together to bring peace. The highlight of the film was perhaps the return of HAL, and it seemed to get intense at the moment when no one knew whether or not HAL was going to go mental during their escape launch. It may not be as good as 2001, but I think that the sequel gave that movie justice.

Midnight Cowboy: ...huh.

I saw this with my family (not the best crowd to see it with in the world) and was actually pretty impressed by the unique camera work. Dustin Hoffman plays a sick little man, and the "Hey, I'm walking here!" comes from this movie (wasnt that brough up in Disney's Hercules when Phil nearly gets hit by a chariot? No...way...). I think what takes away from the movie is the plot. The main character goes to New York to become a male prostitute. Yep, there's your plot. Simple, kinda weird, but handled better than I would've thought. I'd give it three stars and a half for surprising me out of five.

Mutant (1984)- Fun B-movie, with elements of a zombie film and some nice scenes.

Dead Men Walk- Bit boring, not the most interesting plot I guess, but decent enough.
