Hedorah looks fluffy. Gigans in good order and the Yog's are in decent shape as well, but what's with that weird look gold Mogera looking character next to Kamacuras?

I think the Hedorah and Mogera are supposed to be models. Maybe they were used as a reference for the suits and props?

Mothra looks horrible. Her lavae form looks like it took alot of hits to the head.

Baragon looks pretty bad, too. Were those shots taken before or after the suit was used for Ultraman?

Could be "Promo" suits also? But that would certainly make more sense.

What the - ?! Thanks for pointing that out, TV. There was a Mogera vinyl based on that design. Bullmark, maybe? M1 redid it recently. I always hated that sculpt , largely because it looked virtually nothing like Mogera. It's strange to see it's actually based off something...

I've seen the model/toy you speak of. I always figured it was just a stylization that vintage and vintage-style toys often pull and thought nothing of it. It is diffidently odd seeing that it was based off something.

Bullmark's Mogera was based on the original pre-production maquette used for The Mysterians. Marusan made something similar a few years ago.

Thanks, Leej!

Anybody have that "The More You Know" pic they could put up?

Also, it's neat seeing the wheels in Mogera's sides - so those ridges are definitely intended to be tank treads...

Those picture are shocking, but also very interesting. If anyone else can find some Showa behind the scenes pics, I think we'd all love to see them.

Baragon looks that way because his "skull" was literally removed, and used for another monster.

These pics were taken, lonnnng after his appearance in the two Toho films, and episodes of ULTRAMAN (1966).

You seem surprised. The suit is over a decade old in those photos.

Like Legion already mentioned in the initial posting of the photos, they were taken in the late 70's.

It was used as a base for the flying Hedora model.

A second Baragon suit was indeed built, but barely used, for DAM. So the suit seen in those photos actually doesn't look so bad. If it was the same suit that has been used 4 times in Ultra Q and Ultraman the body would have looked a LOT worse. Additionally, I doubt the head of the original 1965 suit would have even been around by 1971 if that was the head they were using to make the Hedora prop.

Huh? the '72 suit doesnt look THAT bad judging by those pictures, wonder why they didnt use it in Megalon, GvsMG and TOMG.

All the other suits save for Anguirus and Godzilla '72 look like mummified corpses.

Gigan and Anguirus look fine in those pictures though Angy looks like he's been possesed by the spirits of GMK. :lol:And Mechagodzilla looks good except for the knees.
