kpa wrote:Wow, that's a HUGE leap in logic... BIOLLANTE showed Godzilla's back, Criterion's GODZILLA cover art showed Godzilla's back, so Criterion might be considering releasing BIOLLANTE?
1. Criterion has no plans for any other Godzilla/Toho FX films.
2. The Criterion guys who worked on the GODZILLA discs are big fans of the classic Toho FX films. So if they were to do more Toho films, its much more likely they'd go for another Honda/Tsuburaya film from the studio's Golden Age.
3. Criterion hired commercial artist Bill Sienkiewicz to do the GODZILLA cover art. Bill drew up some rough designs, Criterion picked one they liked, and Bill created the final artwork. So the pose/design originated with Bill.
4. Miramax owns the rights to BIOLLANTE, and have Echo Bridge set to do a DVD/Blu-ray once they get new HD materials from Toho.
5. Wouldn't Godzilla's back be seen in pretty much every Godzilla movie? I'd bet the are several similar shots in the series over the past 50+ years.
