Still giving it to Destroyah, since he seems to be smart enough to actually KILL or INJURE his opponents when he has an opportunity.

Must have been a very delayed reaction then, because the explosion of Birth Island would have to have happen when Godzilla was on the island, otherwise there wouldn't have been a Meltdown Godzilla. God knows how long it would have taken him to swim from Fukuoka to Birth Island (where ever the hell it is).

Honestly, I think Birth Island's explosion had nothing to do with Space Godzilla. Space Godzilla was killed in 1994, but according to the film, Birth Island didn't explode until 1996.

Thats works as an in-universe explanation. The energy lay dormant but eventually peaked and caused the deposits to light up.

If nothing else, its a fun little fan theory.

It's called "Birth Island" in the Japanese version, so I'm calling it Birth Island.

Kinda fitting since the Big G is reborn in Burning mode after an island called Birth Island is destroyed.

Oh please.

Seriously guys. Name one instance in the final battle where SG toyed with either of his opponents. He only did it with Little Godzilla because he was absolutely, completely, totally in control. He did it because he was fully aware that he COULD do it.

How about the part where he lifted Godzilla with telepathy, dangled him for a bit, and then threw him into a building?

Or even, ya know, the whole damn fight? :P

Yeah, I agree. The gravity tornado attack was definitely not meant to kill. I wonder why SG hated his pops/grandpappy so much....

He could have done anything to Godzilla. He had him totally immobile and in his grasp. And then did what amounted to ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Space Godzilla had Godzilla in a position that most monsters probably dream of, and then tossed him into a building. Talking about missing an opportunity.

So yeah, I stand by what I said. Space Godzilla is a very powerful but ineffective bully who can't even kill or injure his adversaries even when he has the perfect opportunities to do so. Whether it's effortlessly killing humans, digging it's fangs into junior, killing Junior without a second thought or cutting deep gashes into Godzilla, Destroyah doesn't hesitate. If he was smart enough to just use the laser horn more he would have done even more damage to Godzilla.

They're blood lusted. SG won't torture his opponent. That situation you described won't happen.

He was getting Godzilla away from the tower.

RedZillaKing wrote:Yeah, I agree. The gravity tornado attack was definitely not meant to kill.

Of course not. It hardly even qualifies as an attack in its own right. It's just for getting distance between himself and his opponent. It's a tactical move, not really a damaging one.

It's pretty obvious the Gravity Tornado take a lot of power to use. SG probably COULDN'T do anything else to Godzilla when he was using it. It wasn't terribly effective. Combined with the massive amount of power it took, it's no wonder SG never bothered using it again.

But you wanna talk about missing an opportunity? Des is far guiltier of that than SG ever was. There were no less than 2 occasions where Destoroyah could have INSTANTLY won the fight. The first was when he dropped Godzilla in the harbor. He could have just dove in and gone Oxygen Destroyer on Godzilla, just like he did the fish in the aquarium. The second was the Laser Horn. I'm not even talking about using it more often. That first time he used it, he could have easily lopped off Godzilla's head right then and there.

So yeah, I stand by what I said. Space Godzilla is a very powerful but ineffective bully who can't even kill or injure his adversaries even when he has the perfect opportunities to do so.

I guess blowing holes in Godzilla's hide and blowing off Moggy's arm don't count as inflicting injury, huh?

And I AGAIN point out that you must think nearly every single one of the monsters Godzilla ever fought are ineffective.

There's a reason I said LIVING opponents. Toho mech just exists to be destroyed. The fact that Space Godzilla was able to cripple Mogera - to me - is no great shakes. The fact remains that Space Godzilla NEVER put Godzilla's life in danger or inflicted the same kind of injuries Destroyah had. And Destroyah has a body count.

As for the stuff about Godzilla's hide. Interesting how that only happened once. From the time I first saw the film in 1995 all the way to today I've always seen this as something that was never a scripted display of Space Godzilla's power. I always saw this as an accidental byproduct of an explosive squib that was just a little too powerful. I'm not budging on that one.

Dont see the point in it. Godzilla couldnt get past SpaceG anyway. Every time they came up to blows, SpaceG knocked him back. The only times he actually got to the tower was because SpaceG had Moguera distracting him.

And SpaceG didnt see to care how close Goji was when he used his corona beam. Up-close or long-range, it didnt matter.

But you wanna talk about missing an opportunity? Des is far guiltier of that than SG ever was. There were no less than 2 occasions where Destoroyah could have INSTANTLY won the fight. But in those cases, the movie would be over. =P

What were getting at is that with SpaceG, we never really got the sense that Godzilla's life was in danger.

Who got the sense that Godzilla's life was in Danger against Destroyer aside from his meltdown.

I'd say SpaceGodzilla had a better shot at killing Godzilla then Destroyer did.

Half the things SG did in the film just seemed like sadistic mockery and showing off to me. Look! I can levitate and spin and raise crystals and shoot you all at once. I'm dangling you here... Look how powerless you are!

As for the supposed hide busting goof, I don't agree. SG busted his shoulder because it was the only time three beams were concentrated on one spot.

I thought we established that Space Godzilla is an asshole. It's just who he is. He likes to gloat when he has the upper hand in a fight.
