Des Ghidorah and Keizer Ghidorah?

Postby Patrick Alan » Mon Feb 27, 2012 1:33 pm

Well in Rebirth of Mothra a new monster was introduced, Des Ghidorah. A monster who looked like King Ghidorah only on 4 legs, but then in Godzilla: Final Wars another new monster was introduced, Keizer Ghidorah. A HUGE monster that looked like King Ghidorah on 4 legs! Keizer Ghidorah seems to me like a version of Des Ghidorah only on steroids! Anyone else notice this?

I never noticed that Keizer Ghidorah had four legs until now... Looks like it just pranced instead of jumping.
Probably to make them less humanoid and more tough looking. Four legs improve stability and support more weight. It looks more "beast".

There's no telling what went through Kitamura's mind on this film. I presume he just wanted KaizerG to look humongous.

They just need to come up with something better than the two-guys-in-a-pony-suit routine.

I think Desghidorah was done pretty well.

For me, DesGhidorah is the only Ghidorah that had 4 legs of any significance. To be honest, I never even noticed the extra pair of legs on Keizer 'till I found it out here on the forums.

I didn't either. Maybe because he's almost black in a blackened landscape with a grey sky and very little light and it hardly moved at all?

How the hell could you people never notice Keizer Ghidorah has 4 legs? Have you never actually seen GFW or something?

Sooooo much agreement. How is it not completely obvious just from the scene where he "jumps" into the air?

Maybe because when he "jumps" the hind legs aren't visible? It's possible to catch a glimpse of a 20% of the rear right leg at best. And before that when it picks up the stunned Godzilla with gravity bolts and it's seen from the side there's a damn building right in front of its legs. The only moment when there's a decent view of its hind legs is at the beginning of the fight when they fire at each other in a beam contest.

^ You can hear two sets of footsteps when he walks, although that's easy to miss if your not listening carefully.

Nonsense.

And if you missed his entire rear half when Godzilla was throwing him around at the end, you just weren't watching the movie.

I haven't seen Final Wars yet, but the few pictures I've seen of Keiser Ghidorah haven't impressed me. DesGhidorah was fairly cool, though I'm not a fan of him as a Ghidorah. I wouldn't mind seeing him brought back with a name change and the extra heads removed. Make him more of a fire-breathing sauropod-type thing.

Desghidorah looked good. It could have had a better roar, though.

Kaiser Ghidorah may have had 4 legs to make it look bigger, or it was just designed that way. Unless we hear commentary about it, we'll never know.

I don't blame people for not noticing the hind legs. He's kind of a big ugly blob of a Ghidorah anyway.

Death Ghidorah is the best out of the two. Kaiser Ghidorah looked...bleh.

I always figured Keizer Ghidorah was just a blatant rip-off of Desghidorah, just with a different color scheme...

Loved Death Ghidorah. Though seeing it fly was a bit much.

Keizer Ghidorah is alright, but I definitely like him more than Monster X

It's also interesting to see that they are the closest thing to sauropod kaiju
