Those were un-knowledged users, they hold the belief that since Axew will turn into Haxorus, and once in that form can cut steel with ease, believe that he's a Steel type Pokemon. Why? Simple because they believe only steel Pokemon can only destroy steel materials. In other words, they aren't very smart.

Gojira, Axew is a pure dragon, whose power can become strong enough to effortlessly cut through steel when he has matured enough to the final state that allows him to do so.

Now, if you want powerful steel pokemon, I suggest you choose Aron, Dialga, Scizor, and probably Steelix.

From Charizard's PKMN Red Dex Entry:

"It can spit fire that is hot enough to melt boulders."

Yet it's not very effective against Rock types.

I've been reading from experienced players that for those interested in having a powerful Steel Pokemon, that they should obtain an Aron. Saying that in the hands of a good trainer, this pokemon will become a powerful member to use during tough battles. Especially when it becomes an Aggron.

However, some other players feel that its best to obtain an Axew since its both a dragon and steel type pokemon, and is considered more powerful that Aron due to Axew's final stage and how in that stage, in the right hands of a great trainer, that pokemon could take out nearly an entire team of pokemon with levels in the 70's all by itself.

So the question I want to ask is, which is better? I'm highly interesting in obtain one of them, and I understand that they come from different games. But I am curious in knowing which one is better. I don't know what Axew's final form is though, so please excuse my ignorance of not knowing more about that particular pokemon.

If you want a good steel type go with Steelix. It's overall much better then Aggron.

Axew isn't steel at all, just FYI. If you're talking about in-game play, then by all means just pick Pokemon that seem cool to you.

Hey, an Aggron with Rock Head and Head Smash is nothing to sneeze at. I use one and it can mow down several opponents.
Here's the steel type Pokemon I use: Bisharp, Metagross, Aggron, Skarmory, Excadrill, Lucario, Magnezone, and Scizor. All these Pokemon are great.
I was mentioned in the SciFi Japan article about the appearence of extras on the Godzilla vs. Megalon DVD.

Aggron has crap special defense, plus it's dreadfully slow. A speedy Fire type could easily take out an Aggron.

Aggron is neutral to fire. It's part rock type. Plus, it'll just survive with Focus Sash and KO back with Metal Burst. :P

I've used Head Smash Aggron for my SS playthrough... that thing kicked major ass, knocking out Lance's mons left and right... It's nothing to scoff at.
Hope... I will find it!

I need Black 2 and White 2. Now. Kyurem is one of my favorite legendaries and he gets two formes. I about pee'd myself when I saw that.

I'm hoping this and the fact that they're labeled '2' and not Grey Version means we're getting something a little different from the usual slightly repackaged third version. Not that I don't love that, but still.

Not sure if talking about this is okay here so if it is I'll stop, but have any of you played a Pokemon hack like Fire Red Omega or Blaze Black? I'm working on one now but God is it irritating.

Pokemon White Deluxe is pretty ballin'. I think there should be an update soon too.

My previous attempt at a FR hack failed horribly; I tried to do way too much. I've gotten back into it though, keeping things much simpler this time. No new Pokemon, no colossal changes to the map, etc. In fact, you play through the map in practically the same order, route to route, as the regular game. But it's amazing how different a game can feel when you rearrange where things connect and then further redesign the individual map segments. I've got all the wild Pokemon edited and am about a third the way finished map editing. I've got just about all the scripting done through Pewter City as well, just have to tweak the kid who takes you to the gym. The real bitch, as always, will be trainer editing, as all the editors suck Pokeballs and don't work half the time.

Here's the Dex:

Fighting and Ground are much bigger problems, but that's why you bring it in on something that can't hurt it much and spam Choice Band Head Smash on the switch-in, then get out.

That's my favorite way to use Aggron, anyway. It rips shit up. If you use it on a Sand team it can take a special hit or two as well.

Won't help against priority moves.

I built an Aggron set before the announcement of HGSS that was meant to be a wall.... I never got to use it. :(

I tend not to like sets that rely on Focus Sash/Sturdy. I guess they can work in the lead spot, but the utility seems limited--though I suppose with Aggron you can attach that berry that makes you move first with low health and get another attack or some Stealth Rocks out of it... assuming no priority?
