Yu-gi-oh, from the anime to whatever

Postby mecha-gino » Thu Dec 01, 2011 5:10 pm

Blah blah blah, Card Games blah.

Yes let us all discuss the probably the most popular trading card game out their, that isn't Magic the gathering or Pokemon related. Talk about the cards, the movies, the shows, the video games, to the abridged series that made so many of us have laughed with all the jokes that tickled our funny bones. Talk about all this and more.

I love this series, regardless of it being all about card games. Something about it just seems awesome and I don't know why... until we get to GX, generation X! D: Better get your game on. 5D I haven't seen and maybe one day, I'll watch it.

But on another saddening note, international heart throb Dan Green lost his wife while giving child birth too their twins a boy and a girl. This is really sad, it really is and I wish Dan Green and his children the best after this tragedy.

The first series was quite good, certainly better than the vast majority of product tie-in shows. The movie was okay. I tried to watch GX, but I couldn't get into it. Never bothered with 5D's.

Haven't bought any cards in a few years, but I've still got my deck. It's a Dragon deck, and it's awesome.

First series was good, with the best of the original series being season 2 and 6. GX, 5 D's, and the new series which I do not remember the name of didn't do anything for me really. If anything, the original anime adaptation of the manga (which is more true to the manga) AKA season 0. Yami Yugi using plaing cards and hallucinations to turn a school bully into a comatose body was nice, among other toutches.

You guys know that Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters is not the first series? I used to be a huge fan of Yu-Gi-Oh, I had a shit ton of cards and I read the Manga. I thought the movie was pretty bad and I haven't seen since it came out on DVD. I seen the original Yu-Gi-Oh series made in 1998 and enjoy it.

I stop watching the series and playing the cards when GX came out back in 2006. It seems like all of the cards have been based off of GX. They started to make so many, I was unable to keep up with them. I never seen the 5D's series and I don't plan too.

Yu Gi Oh here is really not so popular.

Pokemon, MTG, WoW TCG, then some other table-top gaming, then Yu Gi Oh. I played it back in 2003 and taught my ex's kid how to play. I still got my cards ....somewhere. Had alot of good 1st US series ones. But I found the anime dull and anything after the first US edit bored me.

Pokemon and MTG bore me too..

I still have my deck of cards and I still have my Three Phantom Gods cards as well. I remember that it was okay to use the God cards in battle as long if we keep them at the bottom of the deck. I remember beating my friends Obelisk with my Blue Ultimate Dragon before. I haven't been up to date with Yu-Gi-Oh in over five years but they did ever made a card out of Zorc Necrophades?

I was never big on it... I did buy the cards because of peer-pressure. haha.

I needed all the dragon/dinosaur characters.

This was the first anime I really got into, and I have to say I rather enjoyed following it at times. For some reason the card games really captivated me (it may just be that I play the game myself). I haven't played the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game in a while, but I had a pretty great dinosaur deck back in the day.

I've actually been watching Zexal for the past several weeks. It's surprisingly decent.

I only saw the 1st Yu-gi-oh show, and I liked it for what it was. I haven't seen the other shows, though I'm sure they're not as good as the original series.

Why do people keep on calling "Duel Monsters" as the first show?

I liked the orginal show alot and enjoyed the first two seasons of GX. After that I lost interest. My deck was first based on Joey's deck and My brother was Kaiba. All said and down my brother still has his dragon deck while I have a deck based off of the main GX character. I really liked using polmerization.

I always had a mix deck, my deck was up to 90 cards. I just play the game for fun with people I know and didn't join any tournaments. We had a rule that we would keep the God cards under the deck and you can not add them your hand with any type special help.

Still have my deck (Mixed) with the original Blue Eyes White Dragon, I like the old show than these newer ones.

I remember when I first bought a pack and had no idea what it was but I ended up getting a Summoned Skull right off the bat and that to this day is my favorite card. I can't say I'm a big fan of the newer cards that came out around 2008 so I just stopped getting new cards, so my decks pretty old school I think the newest card in it is Black Tyranno. I remember I had all of Exodia 2 diffrent times but each time they somehow got stolen I never cared to even try to get all 5 pieces again after that. I haven't dueled in years but I've kept my main deck together in case I ever got the urge to go back to my local card shop and go compete in the tournaments again I won the last 2 I went to back in 2009 but some of those new cards just bug the piss out of me some of the effects are just rediculous like oh well if you kill this monster he just goes back to the top of the deck, and of course it's a monster that needs no tributes so it's kind of an endless cycle of failure. Don't even get me started on the ones that had effects within the effects either...plus I got sick of being the oldest one there. Once the new stuff came out most people my age just quit because of all these kids who didn't even know what a Blue Eyes White Dragon was. X_X
He musta thought it was a gun!
I liked Giant Condor and Gabara before it was cool to just sayin.

I was a Yu-Gi-Oh fan from 2002 until 2006 when they started GX. I hated GX and I stop watching the anime on KidsWB! back in 2005 since it was just another fill story arc. I read the manga instead and it's much better compare to the anime.
