I loved the first two generations, didn't care much for the third until FR, LG, and Emerald came out, being cut off from so many Pokemon hurt it in the beginning in my opinion. Then the fourth and fifth I got my act together and started to really get into the serious part of training.

I know the talk of the new games will drown this request out, but I'm interested in a female Vulpix/Ninetails with Drought and a female Poliwag family member with it's DW ability for Politoed's Drizzle. If anyone has these, let me know and we can work something out. I have a TON of level 1 Pokemon from breeding that I can trade for.
I was mentioned in the SciFi Japan article about the appearence of extras on the Godzilla vs. Megalon DVD.

For the record, HGSS blow GSC out of the water, and thus Gen4 is the best generation. Really, the only thing missing is animated sprites. But I guess we'll get that in a few years when the remakes cycle back and we get TesticleHeartGold and OvarySoulSilver.

....In no way is the plot to Black and White spectacular. Each game is essentially the same thing with a few changes to the story, characters and Pokemon.

Except when they changed it for Black and White. Sure, you still have the eight gyms and Elite Four, but the characters are actually involved in the story... Not like Blue, who was just there every once in a while to be an asshole, or like Silver, who was just a flanderized Blue, or May/Brendan and Wally who were both rather shitty as "rivals", but more like Barry, who actually does important stuff. They evolve as characters, as well, and it's a visible process, rather than just "Hey! You're late! That's one million dollars!" to "That Pokémon... it makes me sad."

You still have your evil team, yes, but Team Plasma was developed far beyond anything Team Rocket, Aqua, Magma, or Galactic got. They were a legitimate organization that was a legitimate threat, not just making vague plans to take over the world. They, as well, had developed characters. Ghetsis was a manipulative bastard with depth unseen since Pokémon Special's version of Lance. And N himself is probably the deepest character in all the games.

You still have your Professor, but she's a woman and she appears more than twice. She does stuff, as well. Rowan had plot importance, but nothing near Juniper's level.

The Gym Leaders have their own personalities, too. Some people might hate Iris, but she's got waaaaay more personality than Misty, Brock, Erika, and Lt. Surge put together. And they appear more than once.

Then there's the actual plot revolving around the legendary Pokémon. In G/S, Lugia and Ho-oh weren't required. In HG/SS they were just kinda tacked onto the end there. RSE had a general idea, but failed in the execution, because they were, much like HG/SS, an asspull. DPPt were better than RSE, but Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina fared little better in their plot treatment than Groudon and Kyogre. In BW, rather, the entire plot is built around Reshiram and Zekrom, with a heavy buildup to their second battle in the Team Plasma castle. That's more than you can say for any of the others.

Basically... Black and White had twice the plot of Platinum, which had twice the plot of Diamond and Pearl, and so on. Plot was never an important issue in the earlier games. It was given just as much attention in Black and White as the battling system. I'm not hating on the older games, don't get me wrong, but it is, in my opinion, ridiculous to say that Black and White were a step backwards just because they missed some conveniences given to us in HeartGold and SoulSilver. There's a reason they were rated so high.

I'm not saying you can't dislike them compared to the others, though. But there's nothing important there that wasn't improved.

With GV, I had no idea what to catch since I know very little about the new Pokemon since I was not update with the games like most of you guys. Not to mention, I just didn't like most of the new Pokemon since they didn't had the feeling that G1-G4 did. I was hoping that they will make Grey version but it looks like that won't happen.

I still wish that they made a Pokemon fighting game on the N64 (Not counting Smash Bros) since it seem like a awesome idea. It's too late now since they have so many Pokemon now and it would be hard to pick one to be added into the game.

Hmm...Well this is interesting. Truth be told, I stopped playing Pokemon after Ruby, beyond that I haven't really kept up with the franchise for so many years. From there I've always been with Sony and their game consoles/handhelds.

BUT!

Ever now and then, I do sometimes think back to those great memories, looking back on it now, and looking at everything within the present. I kinda forgot what it felt like to be on the other side of the fence. I guess I might change all that this year and see if I'll be able to cross over that fence and have myself a Pokemon reunion. I'm not really interested within the 3DS, but I'll settle for buying a DS though.

I just have one question, if someone wouldn't mind answering that is:

Does anyone know where to buy Pokemon White? My local Gamestop and Best Buy are all out-of stock, but they have tons of Pokemon Black. I find this strange because yesterday when I went to preorder SFXT, I saw five copies at my Gamestop, I had recently called them a few minutes ago and they said that they were all sold out today.

I really want Pokemon White (Zekrom...You will be MINE!). Or do you think I should wait until the sequels that are coming out soon? I know sequels, well most of them, have a habit of giving a flashback of what previously happened within their previous installment, so maybe there's the chance that the upcoming Pokemon games will do the same? I doubt it somewhat, but who knows.

Besides that, does anyone have any tips on how to make a powerful team, and what team should be gathered that will mostly help you when going through a Pokemon Game? Should I gather mostly fire and water type Pokemon? Or perhaps Steel, Grass and Psychic? Or should I just go in and build my own personal team and try to train them the best I possibly can?

Amazon should have a few copies, if you don't mind waiting a few more days. Also, to my knowledge, the Lucario promotion at Target (?) is still going on, so get it while you can!

In regards to teams and what you should use, use what you like, but put some thought into it. Don't use a, say, Blastoise with Water Gun, Surf, Hydro Pump, and Scald. Mix it up a bit. Learn your team's strengths and weaknesses once you make it, and keep expanding on it.

Ha, this thread swayed me to migrate all my important Pokemon to SoulSilver and restart FireRed. Played it straight through the last four or three nights.

I don't see what business Karen has lecturing the child who just defeated her on what "truly skilled trainers" should do. I guess it's fitting that a cult of inferior Pokemon players has formed around her laughable words.

Anyhoo, since everyone's ranking gens... here are my favorites. I should say, though, that I'm counting the main games of each series--not any remakes-- and judging them by how much I liked them for their time; otherwise, I'd have to say each gen improved on the previous one.

V > IV > II > I > III

To explain, I rank 5th the highest because it simply has everything: an interesting story, a fantastic roster full of new Pokemon, online play, and even random WiFi battles--an awesome, albeit flawed, addition.

Fourth is ranked so highly simply because of skreeonk ONLINE PLAY. This is the single biggest innovation in Pokemon IMO. It was inevitable, of course, but for a kid in a small town the one thing that had always been disappointing about the games was not having enough people to play with.

Gen II was just awesome when it came out. It took the awesome formula of the original games, polished it, added sweet new Pokemon that were just as lovable as the first game's, and included some game play innovations as well. I also just loved the region and the music of this game more than the rest. Oh, and did I mention the ability to travel to Kanto? Hell of yeah.

Gen 1... ranked a bit low? I had a ton of fun with this one, but it was a flawed game even back then. It ranks above gen III for its classic roster of characters and Pokemon.

Last, but not bad by any means, is gen III. I got really excited for this when it came out, and my little sister and I got the bundle pack including both games and a game guide. What can I say about this game... it's great, but compared to the games before it, the Pokemon seemed lacking and the world less endearing (and loaded with too many water areas). I enjoyed it a lot, but unlike the previous two games, I pretty much put it down for several years after I beat the Elite 4.
Now it's dark...

So you're saying that the message (use what you like, not what people deem "the best") is a laughable one?

I'm sure all the Smogon players who say Weezing sucks but get walled by it anyway would agree. :P
