Well, The Phantom Menace has a lot of elements that are just terrible ideas. Jar Jar's character is still one of the most baffling choices George ever made, and most of the podrace aliens are just bizarre in design. Not in the good way, like the cantina scene, but more like something you'd expect from the Holiday Special cartoon segment. There's just way too much slapstick in it, really. And that kid who plays Anakin... Jesus. And then there are those Trade Federation guys... They talk like... I don't even know. Doesn't help that their characters are utterly pathetic as well. And of course, simplifying sensitivity to the Force into how many of some microorganisms are in a person's cells was just really disappointing. With Attack of the Clones, it feels like George was learning a bit, but not much. There's far less of Jar Jar, for one thing. The stupid humor from TPM is far less prevalent here. The story also feels like it connects to the original trilogy in some way, whereas all The Phantom Menace really does is get Anakin into the Jedi Order and establish that Palpatine is a Sith and get him to the highest spot in the Senate. Clones tells us where the stormtroopers came from, it establishes Anakin's discontent in the Jedi Order and his friction with Obi-Wan, and oh yes, it shows us the Clone Wars, which are referenced in the original Star Wars as being kind of a big deal. It lays some of the foundations for the original trilogy. Don't get me wrong, it's an awful film (the dialogue is horrible, Anakin is still wretchedly portrayed and it's still bogged down in politics), but it's a step up from Episode I.

I found Attack of the Clones boring due to the unconvincing love scenes and Count Dooku was the best thing about Episode II. I didn't think Episode II was a bad film but I wish it could have been much better.

Nute Gunray and Rune Haako looked and sounded cool in that movie, but Haako always changes his voice in the prequels, first he sounded hilarious, then in episode II he sounded deep, then in episode III he sounded cowardly, why is that (Rune Haako is this guy:http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Rune_Haako)

Because he's played by different actors.

Oh, that I didn't know. Natilie Portman was a good actress in that movie, though. Random thing, did you know George Lucas made a cameo of him self as an alien in episode III?

Yeah. She's been better, but her performances were by no means bad.

And another interesting fact is that Natalie Portman's mother couldn't tell her from Keira Knightley when they were both dressed up in TPM. I actually had no idea that Ms. Knightley played the decoy Queen until recently.

Natalie did wonderfully with what little she was given. I also never realized that was Kiera Knightley.

It seems that even the Classic Trilogy had some rather racist elements to them according to the man known as Hooper X.

Are there limits as to how many times a creator can make his franchise jump the shark?

He died in episode III too, but it wasn't on screen, his death was in the novel and the comic.

You guys realize some of the Darth Maul stuff from the EU isn't canon, correct?

omgitsgodzilla-For the most part, I agree with your points on EP 1, except for a couple of things. Jar Jar never bothered me that much personally, but I do understand why he bugs people so much. I don't quite get why you feel the humor in the pod race sequence seemed so out of place. It's not like Star Wars was ever devoid of humor. It worked just fine.
