If they toned down the spikes I'd be ok with it.

I kind of like the balance struck by the Heisei suits. I say leave the skin the traditional rocky looking texture, and put all the sharp edges into into the spines , the double rows of teeth, and the claws. I would like to see something like the maple leaf pattern of the spines only with the points sharpened a bit. Make the big G's body armored more like a stegosaurus and less like an ankylosaus. That's Anguirus's territory.

While some of the redesigns are okay or even good I find it annoying a lot of them go with the pupil-less eyes. It worked fine for Kananko's version but I don't want to see that again, just leave it be, let it be a one time thing because I think it's better off that way. I don't want a pupil-less Godzilla to be the norm.

Yeah, there are too many of those already. I remember thinking "wtf" when I first saw the Marvel Comics character Sabretooth with pupil-less white eyes, and then going "wtf" again, and "they could not even get that part right?" when he showed up in the first movie with black pupil-less eyes instead. I think the pupil-less thing is one of those "extreme" characteristics that folks seem to not like so much when conjuring images of Godzilla. I'd be happy with eyes that might be able to have a range of expression. You know the rest of Godzilla's face really doesn't.

Wait what? I know for a fact G 54 has pupils. Or are we talking about something else?

I think he's talking about the first X-Men movie.

The only people who want a pupil-less godzilla are those who think it will make him look so badass. This badass thing has become nothing but a overrated and overused idea in the world of movies ,comics, games etc... Bad enough the upcoming new G comics is gonna have him pupil-less, we don`t need the movie doing the same crap.

There you go. I was talking about the first X-Men movie, one of the GINOs of the Marvel film universe.

I always liked how Dark Horse captured the rage in Godzilla's eyes without deviating from the Heisei design of the pupils.

The only place where pupil-less eyes ever really belonged IMHO were in the eyes of the TransFormers.

Scratch that. They also belonged on Mystique and Nightcrawler. It seemed like they wanted to make mystique as ugly as possible for the X-Men movies with all the scales, black dot pupils surrounded by yellow and red hair that looked like it could have been painted on.

Man, I really hope they don't go with a super spiky Godzilla... that look just doesn't do it for me.

Maybe they could use both eye designs. The creature in Super 8 had freaky white eyes at first, then they were revealed to be an extre set of eye lids exposing intelligent eyes during a pivotal moment in the movie. But I guess that would be too much of a ripoff.

Well, Godzilla is an amphibious reptile-like thing, so an extra pair of eyelids would probably make more sense on him than they would on some alien looking thing. I dunno, it would probably fall into the same category as giving Godzilla gills or webbed or semi-webbed digits.

And then they say that's just for the shirt. They already had someone make a great design for the shirt, and a lot of fans approved, you'd think they just go ahead and use it instead of wasting time trying to make a different one. =/

I was heartbroken....well, that's a little too much. But I was dissapointed. The reaction to the shirt's design was really positive from what I saw, and I genuinely thought it was a great Godzilla design. It gave off an American vibe, but it was still easily recognizable as Godzilla.

They probably have a design set in stone. The hold ups are probably getting the right people to get to work on the film and the script. Probably a little bit of bickering about profit sharing too between Toho/WB/LP...?

Agreed, The design on the T-Shirt even though they wont officially say was more like testing the water's, seeing how fan's would approve of something close to that or if they'd hate it. The reaction was mostly positive, So chances are they'll get or have already gotten someone to sculpt a Godzilla design close to that, but maybe little changes like to the face, eyes or spines... an work on how to handle the skin texture esp with being hit by radiation.

It's a good 90% probability that the Godzilla we see on screen wont stray far from the design on the T-Shirt an the design is probably ready to go.

Script approval's an budget cost's are probably what holding this film up at this time, last i read Toho had to give there approval on nearly everything concerning script's an design an that takes serious time.

Then Legendary an Warner have to discuss just how much there willing to invest in Godzilla an make sure they can bring in a decent profit.

The shirt design looked okay, but I don't think it's that impressive. It looks more like concept art than a finished product.

I really dislike the T-shirt design, good thing they're not gonna use it in the film.

One thing I liked about the t-shirt design for sure, was the inclusion of his pronounced ears. I hate when I see so many designs leave his ears out.
