that would be a good light hearted film until the spider shows up... i would not want her to see godzilla vs spacegodzilla. that one is a little rough and the kid is captured near the beginning of all the fighting,

If your going for sad GvD or Tokyo SOS, Madison was close to. Balling when Mothra pushed herself into the air to save her kids from Godzilla's ray. Then again it might have had something to do with her mom.

We like "dark" movies. We enjoy supernatural horror / thrillers. Like The Omen. I thikn everybody enjoys a good comedy, but finding a good one is hard. We do have a dark sense of humour (like Bad Santa).

GMK, Biollante, and Terror of Mechagodzilla are my recommendation. Terror may not be super dark but for a late Showa film it has a rather depressing story to end the first series with.

Perhaps so, but compared to the rest of the series, it's still not too serious of a film. I would dare say that GFW is a more serious film in some ways.

I found it kinda serious, The dude sacraficed himself (just like in Gojra)
And Godzilla ripped out Anguirus's throat, and set his dying corpse ablaze! ther than Other than the criminals running around, I found the movie kinda serious.

Godzilla vs. Hedorah (She is OBSESSED with the 'Save the Earth' scene, and even dances to it at times...)

Years ago when I used to have a girlfriend, her favorite was Godzilla vs. Destoroyah.
We also watched Final Wars, but we kind of snoozed out halfway through it - could you blame us?

...Except that Godzilla: Final Wars is not "epic". "Epic" implies a larger than life feel in many different respects, including story, setting, scale, time period (most epics are set in the past) and many others. GFW is none of those.

An example of an epic film would be Ben-Hur, Lawrence Of Arabia, The Ten Commandments, Gone With The Wind and Spartacus. I don't see any similarities between those films and GFW.
