I just have 1 question about the 3D re-release. Were there any new scenes at all? To be honest, I dont watch movies in modern 3D as they give me a headache (the old blue-red never bothered me, but the new tech does for some reason). So unless there is some new scenes of any kind, the 3D releases have no draw for me whatsoever. I haven't even seen the blu-ray versions yet. I'm just waiting to find the set dirt-cheap before picking it up.

It's the same cut on the Blu-Ray release. Minor alterations, the most major being the CG Yoda. It's nothing too different than the DVD version, though.

What changes were there? (I haven't seen episode 1 in 3D yet)

Basically, they just replaced the old CGI Yoda with Revenge's model.

I thought it looked a bit better. It had little twitches here and there like the Empire/Jedi puppet.

Yeah, it's really well-done. My friends were pissed when I told them they'd replaced the puppet, automatically assuming that they'd replace it in the classic films as well... I was like, "Well, at least it won't be shitty CGI or anything."

Not that I'm advocating replacing the original Yoda puppet with CGI. That thing was a work of art.

All I can say is that the first three Star Wars movie were masterpieces, the other three, too political, too much whiney Anakin, too much of a love story. The Clone Wars Tv show, I like watching it, mainly because its the only good cartoon we get nowadays.

My only issue with the new CGI Yoda is there's a couple moments when the lip synch doesn't work out too well but overall it was okay. I wonder if they redid Yaddle in CGI as well.

Obviously I'll eat up anything Star Wars, so I saw it. And while I have no regrets personally... don't see it. The 3-D, in a kind of ironic way, is purposely supposed to NOT be gimmicky... but without the gimmicky "It's comin' right for us!" effect it feels pointless and boring. There's a few nice shots (Darth Maul's entrance, some of the Battle Droid bits) but generally the 3-D is more like a 'layered' effect than anything, which really wouldn't be worth it to the general populace.

Episode I in 3D was every bit as bad, but the podrace looked really cool.

Anyway, out of the original trilogy, I think Star Wars was a great movie. It's a lighthearted space fantasy movie where you don't really have to think too much. It's a hell of a ride. Empire then ups the darkness and develops the characters further and improves upon the original's special effects. Jedi continues to improve the effects, but the story feels weaker this time around and you can already see merchandizing starting to take over the creative process with the painfully obvious "cute" factor in the Ewoks, as well as having Jabba the Hutt be a giant slug creature rather than just a really fat dude as he was to have been shown in the original Star Wars (on the 2004 bonus features DVD, there's a shot from the set of the scene with Han and Jabba in the original that was cut and later reinstated for the Special Edition with a CGI slug-Jabba. He is portrayed simply by a fat guy).

The prequels... Episode I is just many different kinds of terrible. Episode II is bearable, but the love story is horribly written and worse yet made one of the main focuses of the film. Hayden Christensen's performance is just jaw-droppingly bad. Episode III is pretty passable though, falling just a little below Jedi in my opinion.

Empire is my fav without a doubt. I saw all 3 prequel films in theaters, but I wasn't much of a fan then so I didn't think they were as bad as I do now.

I'm not really interested in seeing any in 3D though, though I wouldn't mind seeing IV ans V on a big theater screen. How far apart are they rereleasing these things in theaters?

One year apart. Assuming the 3D reworking all goes ahead on schedule.

Clone Wars was bad if you want to count that movie. I'm glad that I saw Pineapple Express instead at the time and rented the movie when it came out from my local red box.

There's a reason for that. And there's a reason why TESB has the majority.

I like AOTC, but it's not my favorite, it's my 3rd favorite. ROTS though was a movie masterpiece, my favorite movie of Star Wars and my favorite movie in general.

I think The Phantom Menace was way worse than Attack of the Clones.
