Depends on what one's definition of cheesy is, because I personally don't find any of them "cheesy". Goofy? Sure, a bunch of them are, but that's part of the charm of some of these films. The series would have fizzled out after a handful of films if they had kept the tone of the first two. I'm actually glad the Showa series got as outlandish as it eventually did.

Tyler, that is a great picture right there.

So are these films cheesy? If anything, some of the dubs are. Sometimes they are borderline goofy, but never 'cheesy' I think.

The 60's era only feels cheesy to most younger people because it's old. They are not cheesy if you are looking at it in the 60's era point of view. The 70's films are campy because the time that those films where made. They where ment to be silly and fun.

A lot of people are confusing cheese with comedy. But then again, TK's community isn't known for using the right words for everything.
Every film should have at least one animal attack.

No TK's community is known for snobs who come in and say they know what's what while saying the rest of the community doesn't. :P

The 70s films don't strive to be comedy, really. They have humor, but they try to play seriousness and suspense. That qualifies them more as camp.

The films themeselves aren't comedy, but moments in them often called cheesy are there for comedy. Nobody can say Godzilla's tailslide was meant to be taken seriously.
