Monsterpocalypse Buildings for Kaiju Displays??

Post by RedZillaKing »

Monsterpocalypse is a tabletop game where monsters battle each other. Read about it here: http://monsterpocalypse.com/

Anyways, one thing that caught my eye was the highly detailed miniature buildings. What do you guys think? Would they make good buildings for my pending SHMonsterarts display?

BTW, I don't even like games like this and this looks too fun.

The SH MonsterArts figures would dwarf these buildings. The Monsterpocalypse gaming figures look to be three to four inches tall, so the buildings would be very small compared to the MonsterArts figures. However, I could be wrong. I don't own anything from Monsterpocalypse.

They're not as classy as Monsterpocalypse buildings but they're free and resizable

At 4-5 inches tall, I bet they would go very nicely with HG figures or the 'Pack of Destruction' figures.

:( Not every building is taller than Godzilla. Plus they'll be easy to customize into taller, wider buildings with their generic designs. I dunno, I guess I'll get a bunch and share when I'm done. Remember, Goji is 6 inches tall.

Yes, and also, he is supposed to be 100 meters tall.

Just an FYI, the Terminal Tower in Cleveland, OH, would be double his height.

Precisely. Not every building is more than 330 feet tall. On average they're probably less.

The Monsterapocalypse buildings are nice and all but the cardstock ones are much better.

Then you can also make the buildings out of resin or plaster, which I can easly do, given the proper materiels to make a mold out of. Though, I'd only do this if I wanted to make a really good diorama like I did for my Aurora G '54.

Would you mind posting pictures of them?

Also, where would these buildings be purchasable at? I cannot find them anywhere.

Oh, yes, sorry I may not have been clear enough. I'd love to see the diorama, if you wouldn't mind.

If you wait I'm getting some next week. I'll take pics w/ Revoltechs, Gashapon, and Monsterarts so you get an idea of just how well they work/ how detailed they are. I got a wide variety.

The base is made out of a 12x24 inch plywood board with cork layers covered in moss to give the impression of hills. The buildings are made out of resin which I broke and damaged to make them look like they're crumbling. The rubble is made out of assorted metal wires, crumbled chunks of plaster, an electric generator from a power plant model kit, and popsicle sticks for the broken roof/floor of the building. The stone pathway is a thin peice of plastic with a grid pattern cut into it with an xacto knife. The trees are your basic ones you can find at any hobby shop. I plan to modify the diorama to make it look much better (and possibly bigger)

The color scheme for Godzilla was of my own design. The inside of the mouth and eyes where coated in a transparent layer of glossy paint to give them a "wet" look.

VERRRY nice, I like the use of wood there. It really does give it an older feel. You say you're making it bigger? I'll shoot you a PM shortly, you may find it interesting ;)

Just an advice if you want to print your own buildings. Glueing average paper onto cardboard usually leads to yucky results, and most printers bend sheets as they print and cardboard gets stuck. When I was making buildings for my nephews to use with toy soldiers I found that printing them on label sheets (the largest ones, 1 label per sheet) and then applying the self adhesive wonder on sturdy cardboard is probably the best choice).

Kinda too small for Monsterarts Goji, but I still love the way he looks wading through.

They're definitely more in scale with the Revoltech kaiju. Gyaos vs. Gigan!

I must admit, it looks nicer than I previously thought.

I wish some of the buildings were a tad bigger though to give it some scale, but nonetheless the display really works.

I'm thinking of utilizing papercraft buildings for my MonsterArts display.
