This is just something to keep an eye on whether it means the Godzilla project will now get prime focus on it or it could suffer the same fate we just dont know

Damn it. Paradise Lost could have been infinitely better than Godzilla.

Crap... Not that this has anything to do with Godzilla, if it doesn't start progressing by this Summer it could end up falling in the same situation. Hope it doesn't i for 1 actually want this American Reboot to happen more then another Toho film personally. (I know many rather another Toho film then Hollywood film)

Shame for Paradise Lost though..

I completely agree. As much as I love the Toho movies i would much rather see a big budget american version

with that said though you would think Legendary knows how important this film project is. Heck people are no longer able to post on their FB page because people would post non stop questions about the Godzilla film so you would think this is a huge priority for them but we will see

i will start becoming very worried though if we dont get any updates by spring/summer. Transformers 4 just got a release date idk why Godzilla cant get one.

In all honestly, I'm expecting any day now to hear that this film is being dropped. I've stopped being excited about this film so long ago due to the utter lack of news and relevant details.

I'm always iffy when classical stories are adapted into modern-day films. Something always seems to be either lost in translation, or changed to better fit contemporary standards. While I think premise sounds good, I ultimately sigh in relief hearing that Paradise Lost was dropped. Maybe I'm just an elitist when it comes to this stuff.

I share the opinions of some of you. Paradise Lost COULD have been really cool, but it would've been difficult to pull off well. And I do think I want LPG more than a new Toho creation first. I'd just love to see Godzilla get some really fancy special effects and awesome fights.

Yup. Especially if they expect you to take some jazzed-up, modern version seriously. On the other hand, there can be some fun in a totally preposterous update. Look at the Dante's Inferno video game. I thought it was a laugh-riot, because the storyline was so freaking off-the-track that it turned into comedy gold. I can just hear the script meetings:

"And then Dante hits Satan with a giant Scythe!"

"AWESOME!"

I bet they abandon Godzilla by this summer. They are probably having a hard time getting all the things they want for the movie and are going to throw in the towel.

Oh boy here we go again. "The movie is doom" shit again. Do you really think LP would pay so much money for a character only to never use it?

Not quite sure how to react to this. Could it mean that Legendary is finally gonna get off their ass and work on this movie? Possibly. Could this be completely unrelated to Godzilla? Possibly as well.

Alex Proyas can't catch a break. He's a very underrated director. You know, I wouldn't mind if Edwards quit and Proyas took over Godzilla.

Unless another bigger opportunity for Edward's career to take off comes up i doubt you'll see him dropping out. This is his big budget break-threw unless Legendary cans Godzilla themselves he isn't going anywhere i'd be surprised other-wise.

I actually found the game's interpretation of the original text to be pretty good. If you thought the game was going to follow the story ever bit of the way, you're an idiot (not you personally, just as a generalization). Whenever something is translated into another media it will lose something. But it also gains something.

This news could affect Godzilla in three ways:

It could be a foreshadowing of what is to come for Godzilla. Godzilla could get scrapped by Legendary, it's possible.

Godzilla could get some more attention, now that another movie is out of the way. Legendary paid big cash for Godzilla, I don't think they're just gonna let him go.

Or nothing could happen. More likely than anything.

See, that's the thing. Milton's work is public domain. Any studio could pick it up. Most studios like to cash in their expensive rights as soon as they can. They can push back public domain works unless they're REALLY good (like Sherlock Holmes).
