I actually like the show, even thuogh I didn't starg watching until last september when it began syndication. Although none of the actors may be "nerds" IRL, I think some of the writers may be. Its just that the execution of some of the jokes are pulled off by the actors better than others. I like the referrences to movies, games etc... It remidns me of a simpler time before my life got "complicated" 8-) heh.... I also like that they referrence SDCC quite often. They also referrence Godzilla also. Check out the "sightings" article here at TK and you'll see at least 3 references. I know there is at least one more I could submit, if I ever get motivated enouggh to do so.

Basically the only TV shows I watch now are "The Big Bang Theory", and "The Office", everything else is animated
There has never been a "Scientifically Accurate" Dinosaur portrayed on any Television Show, Movie, or Documentary. Only what the human imagination can conceive, and I'm ok with that.

I started watching this show because I love The IT Crowd which is a British show about two IT nerds and their female manager and I thought this might be a good show too. In many ways the two shows have a lot in common. I have not found the Big Bang theory to be quite as laugh out loud hilarious as The IT Crowd but it really was quite good. I need to see more of it to come to a final judgement but so far what I have seen of the characters has been enjoyable and the script writing good.

I love Kaley Cuoco. She's so beautiful and funny. I have the first season of this on DVD and watched for awhile. It was really my dad's show and I would watch it with him. After he passed and I went to 2nd shift, I stopped watching.

Reading about it...seems Leonard and Penny broke up.

They're getting back together in the current season. They're taking it slow this time around.

It's a tough show sometimes. I prefer the newer episodes because I find the comedic chemistry between the female characters far more funny than with the male characters. But it is a pretty funny show at times - it doesn't make me laugh out loud often, but it's better than a lot of the other sitcom garbage, and the premise is fairly original compared to the ever popular 'family' sitcom.

One of my favorite shows, actually. Though I do agree with the opinion that Sheldon does get a bit annoying, but that's his characterization. It's still better than most sitcoms out there nowadays.

I'm a fan of the show since I can relate to it. I had a similar social group in high school - four nerds, and a couple of attractive girls who just don't get us, but still hang out with us nevertheless. It's one of those shows that I have been following ever since the very beginning.

Lately my taste in Chuck Lorre's sitcoms has dwindled ever since he decided to continue Two and a Half Men without Charlie Sheen (like Two and a Half Men couldn't get any worse!), and I admit, The Big Bang Theory has been a little shaky lately, especially last season where they focussed too much on romance than actual geeky situations like in Seasons 1 & 2 (for me those were the best seasons). But, currently half way through Season 5, the show seems to be turning around. I like how Leonard and Penny's relationship isn't the main focus anymore. It worked in Season 3, but I wouldn't think it would work now, so I give credit to the writers for now.

I agree that Sheldon's character needs to be brought down a notch. He's too much. I like Sheldon don't get me wrong, but there's just a lot of him to handle. I usually watch the show for Leonard, Penny, Raj, and Howard.

Arbok wrote:The show is recorded in front of a live studio audience, but it has a laugh track edited in if the audience doesn't give the desired reaction. The term is called sweetening (aka using a combo) which is more accurate than just saying they use the laugh track I will admit and I guess I was misleading there.

A bit how most bands tend to play a audio tape to "enhance" their sound?
