Just interesting facts about Godzilla

Just interesting facts about Godzilla

yeah, pretty much it.

have something cool you wanna share about Godzilla? Be it in film or behind the scenes. post it here.

-Godzilla's skin looks the way it does, because in the original film, they covered the suit with sea sponges. Then painting over them with latex.

Who would of thought huh?
Don't try to be something else. Don't try to be less. Great things are going to happen in your life. Great things. And with that will come great responsibility.

Turns out Godzilla didn't get stolen. He just drank the entire Sapporo brewery, passed out on the side of the road, and didn't show up for work for a week.

Originally Godzilla was gonna be a stop motion animated Octopus until Eiji Tsuburaya realized that it'd take him around 7 years to do the original Godzilla film with stop motion animation and settled on putting a guy in a rubber suit

His roar was made by rubbing a glove against a stringed instrument in different ways to get all of the different roars.

The Ghido-Goji suit was originaly going to be in GODZILLA VS. MOTHRA '92, with of course the ususal toutch ups. In fact, you actualy see it in some of the underwater scenes in the film. Problem was, the suit was stolen from the lot. This was such a large deal American press even got a hold of it, running ads like this,

"Tri state citizens beware! Godzilla is on the loose. Unbelievably, someone has stolen the rubber Godzilla model form a Japanese special effects department in Tokyo. The model was made for a new Godzilla movie coming out in Japan. Now, the theft won't affect the film's premiere, I;m sure you're glad to hear that, I know Jerry's relieved. But the 13 mfoot high tech model is worth 39 thoudans bucks and the Japanese have a real yen for their favorite movie star, the want him back. Has anyone checked with King Kong?"

And yes, a terrified old woman found the suit on the shore of Lake Okutama (just outside of Tokyo). Kawakita's staff wasn't too happy though.

I don't exactly remember, but I do recall hearing that there was something peculiar about the people who stole the suit (something wants me to say occultists).

:eh: Never heard that part. Now I'm really intrigued. Was the suit going to like, preside over some horrible ritual?

Anyone know anything else about this?

in all of these films the actors in the "rubber suits" would walk normal speed but the film was sped up while recording to give it that bigger than life look that these films are so famous for.

On one of the films there was a side article where all the actors that played godzilla actually met and discussed why they walked the way that they did.

On another note the look of volcanoes exploding was actually done by taking a camera and turning it upside down next to a large fish tank and then pouring different dies into the water. the effect of waves was achieved by using small fans just out of the camera's range.

also in dam the final battle scene was on the largest studio building that toho had at the time and was still not large enough, on certain scenes plant life had to be drawn in to hide the bottom of the stage, (example when godzilla first appears in that scene the camera is pulled back beyond the edge of the stage.)

They were actually going to continue using Ghido-Goji?!

Now I'm ticked at those rotten thieves.

Within the last year or so, toho has drained the tank that all the movies were made in. i wonder how water shots in the future will be done.

Like I said, they did use it in the underwater shots when Godzilla was duking it out with the Larva Battra. And also the volcano sequence. Thus, it was pretty much used for the two best sequences in the film.

One thing which I was thought interesting is that Toho let Tsuburaya do what he wanted to do, like buying that optical printer for Mvs.G. Too bad no SFX artist in Japan today has that much power really. Imagine if someone like Shinji Higuchi had Toho or Kadokawa buy a bunch of equipment which Weta and ILM has and yet no Japanese SFX house.

yeah, and he was steamed that godzilla had killed his best friend in the biollante film, and remember how he reacted when asked if the radio was working, "none of your business". so, he could have made the whole thing up. but it was an interesting twist in the plot, the funny part is when they all show up to "kill" godzilla at the edge of the rock pile they only have minimal weapons, like rifles and hand guns, just what is that against godzilla.

It is Godzilla vs. Spacegodzilla, after all.

Although, I kind of like that whole scene. Yuki's mini-war against Godzilla was rather different and interesting.

Godzilla can fit over 2000 cheese balls in his mouth.

Godzilla majored in Forensic Science when he was in college.

If Godzilla absorbs too much radiation, he'll go BOOM! Taking out most of everything with him. Just to prove that even if you can get rid of Godzilla, you pay a far worse price than him being around!

Only if you're trying to kill him with radiation.

Of course, on the other hand, getting rid of him WOULD be worse, because often he's the one who saves us (inadvertently) from even greater threats. But we all know that already.
