"I generally don't consider region-free dvd-rom copies from Asia to be much better/different than a boot."

More than a few legit companies release titles region free....though of course there are a number that don't

Except they ARE legit as in having the rights, and releasing dvd's thru proper channels.. I have a number of Universe titles, and many are far from crappy quality.

Not to mention the implications about the quality of bootlegs vary greatly in accuracy from seller to seller.

Thank god. Thank you god. After two decades, we can finally move on with the *legal* (for sake of conversation) Megalon release. Now we just got to wait for Toho to get done "approving it".

Did yall read Stuart's article? Or his Facebook post? lol

MB after being told numerous times sent the check but not in Stuart's name. Stuart's lived in Japan since 2003 and doesnt have a US bank account so he cant cash the check! WTF ! MB you ass-wipes.

I'm pretty sure Stuart can just endorse the check to Steve. No big deal unless fed-exing it to Steve is that costly.

Stuart cant do anything. The check is made out to Steve. Steve would need to deposit it and wire the money to Stuart at a cost. Japanese banks wont cash American bank checks.

Well, the point is, he got paid. I'm sure they'll figure something out.

I'm glad that's out of the way. Now if only Toho could hurry up with the approval process, then maybe we could see this get released before the next millennium.

Dude, if someone owed me money and sent me a check made out to my best friend and I personally had no way to cash it but FedEx it to him and ask him to cash it then Money Gram me the cast, Id be pissed. Especially if Id told the acconts payable to make it out to me numerous times.

wataru, even if they paid Stuart in the best way possible you'd still find a way to spin it so that MB still looks like a bunch of dirty, unscrupulous twats.

I really don;t give a shit how this did it. They paid him. It's over. I hold out hope that we'll get Megalon eventually.

Technically, he hasnt gotten paid. Steve got paid.

And yes, MB is still a bunch of dirty, unscrupulous twats for their actions.

Funny how you can draw an ethical line against screwing people so long as you get what you want...

No offense dude, but couldn't the whole bootlegging/piracy thing be construed much the same way?

I'm not some copyright crusader like others on here, but I can't help but notice a bit of irony in that post.

I just want Godzilla vs. Megalon.

That's why I am not complaining. Boo Hoo if it is going to cost a bit just to fed-ex the check and wire the money. They got their money in some form and probably are still making a respectable amount after having spent money in order to access the money. At least they got paid instead of not.

Here's my take.

-I want to see all parties responsible for providing content for this release properly compensated
-I think Media Blasters should be given a bit of leeway concerning the delay of the payment, considering the current issue with the releases
-It probably was partially Media Blasters' fault for putting out DAM with apparently unapproved or unpaid-for extras, but why did Toho not check out and approve these before release?
-Lastly, of course I want to see MEGALON happen with all the extras that can be included, and Toho not be a major prick about it, and that Media Blasters makes a good profit from it and can stay in business and maintain a good relationship with Toho for a long time to come.

On a total side note, I'm hoping their Blu-ray release of Squid Girl on 03/13 comes out on time, that would be a good indicator of things to come (hopefully their BD of GAMERA THE BRAVE isn't delayed).

This, except I really don't care about the extras. I just want a high quality BluRay of Godizlla vs Megalon...and all Toho SFX movies for that matter.
