Super Sentai or Power Rangers?

Very simple question: Which do you like more? Super Sentai or Power Rangers?

Personally, I'd go with Power Rangers. Not because I think it's a better show, but because of how Power Rangers makes me feel. Outside of Godzilla, Power Rangers is my ultimate nostalgia. I loved watching Power Rangers when I was a kid, and I still enjoy watching bits and pieces of the show nowadays. I don't have those same feelings for Super Sentai.

Now, I do understand that without Super Sentai, there wouldn't have been any Power Rangers. But, I'm a firm believer that a show/movie/whatever has the right to stand on it's own merits, without being compared to anything else, and that includes Power Rangers. And honestly, the creators of Power Rangers do attempt to make their own show, instead of a copy of Super Sentai. Wether the differences be in footage, characters, fights, music, etc., there are enough difference between the two shows to make them feel different from one another.

So yeah, Power Rangers may not be dark or have complex characters like some seasons of Super Sentai, but I would still take the "Green With Evil" 5-parter from Mighty Morphin' over anything that Super Sentai has to offer.

Sentai, better characters that are more fun to watch

Honestly Capt Marvelous > or = Shiba Takeru > Ban > Every PR Red Ranger ever.

Also just more badassery, better plot lines, and some of PR is just watered down Sentai plots. Especially Samurai, but Samurai is awful for not only sugar coating a recycling Shinkenger's plot lines, but the character dynamics around which the episodes were written were shifted.

Then again Samurai is just plain awful.

Simple Answer : Might Morphin Power Rangers.. an NOTHING after that particular series.

Rita Repulsa, Goldar, Scorpina, Zordon, Alpha 5, Dragonzord, Original Megazord...... Lord Zedd was pretty bad-ass, loved his look an his ''Z'' staff but after him the series went to shit an has been complete an utter shit ever since... if it's even still around.

Hell wasn't it Amy Joe Johnston who was the hot ass Pink Ranger? An all the girls loved Tommy the Green Ranger? Those were the Classic's.

My cousin just told me today they she make a high budget MMPR movie with red,pink.black.blue,yellow and white rangers are the heroes and Green Ranger as the villain and let Michael bay direct it.

I was around when MMPR's killed TMNTs.

I personally like MMPRs up until the Ninja Zords came out. Also like Lost Galaxy and Time Force.

The movie was also great. Turbo... not so much.

I prefer PR. I've really only watched MMPR and the Disney's (shudder). I've caught a bit of stuff in between, mostly Zeo, Lost Galaxy, Turbo, Space, and the crossover movies.
The only Sentai I've seen are some of the latest Pirate ones.

I liked Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers when I was little, but it just doesn't hold up for me now. As for Super Sentai, I never liked it. It feels like the same thing to me. I just can't get into it.

Between MMPR and Zyuranger, I think Zyuranger is the better show. It wasn't intended as time-slot filler and it had a larger storyline that didn't feel like an excuse to get some new stuff onscreen to sell more toys. Power Rangers, though... It's more fun on some level. The camp and cheap sci-fi stuff (as well as the Dawson Casting and Totally Radical teen dialogue) are oddly endearing.

Power Rangers is Sentai-lite. Removing everything that makes a Japanese kids show awesome. I remember parents complaining about the violence in Power Rangers. If they ever saw the japanese version, they'd have a heart attack!!

The super sentai originals are better IMO because they have better characters, better storylines and weren't afraid of killing characters off. I also could never stand the American cast and balk every time they tried to fool us with switching over to the Japanese footage, which had different film stock, and suddenly the power rangers were much slimmer and the Yellow Ranger turned into a guy.

I only liked power rangers as a kid, but in hindsight it's kind of terrible. I mean yeah it's part of my childhood, but the only reason I like it somewhat is because of nostalgia.

I'm not a really a big fan of sentai in general, but I do want to give Gokaiger a try since I've heard a lot of good things.

I haven't watch Power Rangers in a long time and don't plan to since I have a feeling it's going to be bad watching it as a adult. I saw both movies when they came out and the second movie was the first movie in my life that I was so disappointed. I love the series as a kid and even dress up as the Red Ranger back in 1995 for Halloween. I just remember the second movie being so bad, I hardly even remember it.

I never watch Super Sentai but it looks pretty cool. I don't think I will watch it though since it does not look like my cup of tea.

Super Sentai, sorry PR fans but I like the fact Sentai isn't afraid to kill off characters and even have and entire group of actual martial artists formed to do the stunts...Could list the numerous things I find annoying with PR but then I'd be accused of flamebaiting. Plus Sentai had better villains and more badass characters.
