Either way they handle it, i find it to be very interesting... Even if it's set in modern times, Will they have it like ''Godzilla 1985'' where the U.S. see's video footage of Godzilla destroying Japan in 1954, or hearing maybe some survivor story's of victims who lived threw it... Seeing the aftermath of the destruction..

Or if they have it set in 1954, an show the bombing.. an all the people an how they were effected, an then Godzilla appear's awakened finishing off those who barely survived the bombing.. Seeing children an family's being burned alive an contaminated by radiation... That would really be something...

Even having the recent tragedy in Japan tying it into the film as Godzilla's return an the Japanese covering it up.. an then explain why Godzilla would attack the U.S. if he indeed does... Possibly looking for nuclear energy? I dunno.... I hope it's at-least a creative interesting story.

I got it. The answer to all of our problems. Here it is:

20XX

Edit: Damn, someone already made that joke. Whatever. :sigh: Then I say present day.

1998, when Zilla was attacking the city of New York, Godzilla comes along and kills Zilla. Then Godzilla blows up the city. (That's the it should have been done)
Or 20-something, when everything was nice and peaceful... THEN SHIT STARTS BLOWING UP, PEOPLE START DIEING, ALL HOPE IS LOST!

Love to see it set in 1954. Then have the sequel set in modern day.

Im I the only one who considers thee reboot to be separate from any Japanese film? Because to draw in some audiences, they may need to distance him from Japan. I think LP will appease the fanbase in terms of character design ( which GINO clearly failed to do) but as far as story, I feel like they're going to try something new. Which has the potential to be good or bad.

this year or next year or possibly 2014 to keep the normal godzilla to go on because usually toho makes a godzilla movie 10 years after a final film.

Terror of Mechagodzilla-Return of Godzilla = 9 years so yea he's pretty much right. it was pretty much 10 years and they said after TOM they were taking a break just like after GFW til now.

...9 is not 10. Therefore, what GodGan said isn't true.

Wow, are people really this nitpicky on this forum? If you want a get like that, technically it wasnt nine years either exactly, it was 9 years and 9 months to a tee. So he was closer than you all were because 10 is closer to 9 years 9 months than 9 years is.

...How is that nitpicky? Since when has 9 ever been 10? That's not being nitpicky, that's just simple math.

Well if you're a postmondernists, 9 could be over 9000. XD

But in all seriousness, the theory has little proof going for it. Sorry, GodGan.

He was still closer to the correct answer than you all were. Because 9 has also never been 9.75(9 years 9 months), but 9.75 is closer to 10 than 9.

...Okay then. 9.75 isn't 10.

Either way, what GodGan said still isn't true.

And what you said wasn't true either because it wasnt nine years but 9.75.

...

A. Who cares?
B. That wasn't what I was saying. In my original post, I was simply saying that GodGan was wrong. I don't care if it's 9 or 9.75, but either way that's not 10.

Notice the bolded part. That's why he's wrong. Nine years is not ten years, no matter what way you slice it.

Disregarding the Terror of Mechagodzilla-Return of Godzilla thing, Godgan was STILL wrong. He specifically said Toho USUALLY has a new film out ten years after each "final" film, which is false. There is no "usual" span of time that Toho waits.

I think the key point here is that GodGan should have said "usually toho makes a godzilla movie *about* 10 years after a final film."

Even then, it's not really true; that was the case only once. The other two times Toho did a "final" G film (excluding FW), They ended up making a new movie within 5 years.
