why no Godzilla/Ultrman crossover

Okay so I just started getting back into Ultraman and wanted to know why he and Godzilla haven't had any crossovers?

Nah, I don't Ultraman would Kick Godzilla's ass. Ultraman has the timer and I think Godzilla would throw him around enough (The OG Ultraman) But it's most likely money reasons and that toho usually doesn't want to do a crossover unless the own the thing Godzilla is doing a crossover with (Hence Godzilla in ZF)

There's little reason for a Godzilla and Ultraman crossover, not to mention Ultraman and the whole Ultra franchise are not Toho's, so for Toho there's even less reason to. Godzilla appearing a few times on Zone Fighter is as close as we'll probably ever get to that.

I would love to see a Godzilla/Ultra crossover, but if I'm correct Toho isn't fond of doing that style.

Because it's an impractical, (And quite frankly) stupid idea. What, a monster using an actual Godzilla costume wasn't good enough for you?

Why is it impractical or stupid?

I was just saying isn't company that makes Ultraman like a spinoff company from Toho?

It isn't. It would be a mega popular smash hit. Anyone who doesn't think so is obviously unaware of the number of Ultra fans out there. There's a lot of overlap between the Godzilla and Ultraman fans and everyone would line up to see this particular bout. The only thing that prevents this is the lack of the studios to make this film.

Eiji Tsuburaya wanted to start his own special effects company so he could spend money on the best equipment he could have without having Toho (or anyone else) breathing down his neck and telling him they cant afford it. Its not really something you could call a spinoff of Toho.

As for the topic, people do crossovers all the time on YT, so its not like its a completely untouched subject. I just dont think it could realistically work as a real movie.

A lot of people may do crossovers, but most of them don't pull it off that well. I've haven't seen that many good ones..

Toho would have to pay the rights to use Ultraman if they made a cross over. It's unlikely to happen. Besides, we already have a frilled Godzilla in Ultraman.

Or vise versa; Tsuburaya would pay for Godzilla.

Or they would BOTH pay, since it's a crossover.

Or, they would simply produce a film committee, they would each front their own money for the co-production, and they would split the profits. Why would they have to pay eachother for a coproduction?

Because Toho is anal when it comes to making and spending money.

What part of "film committee" do you not understand? This method is used so much in Japan right now. If more than one company enters into a co production, they aren't going to have to pay eachother for the rights to use eachother's characters. They're both in charge of the production.

If this did happen it might spike Godzilla'l popularity enough for Toho to bring him back, but with the new LP film in the works it may take over a decade until we see Toho bring the big man back.

I think that's what I meant. Sorry for the bad wording (or ignorance of film business - whatever).

Wouldn't it be easier for Toho to just bring back Zone Fighter, even if it was just for a one-time thing?

I don't think they want to bring back Godzilla let alone Zone Fighter. They'd probably have a better go at Zone Fighter than Godzilla, currently.
