Jeez. That Cheap DVD Packs site isn't exactly cheap compared to other places. I guess I could just buy a used copy of the defective version for about two odd dollars and then send in the artwork...

^ Yeah, I suppose you could, but I think that's taking unfair advantage of Mill Creek.

They're selling a Blu-ray of a great movie with two audio tracks and nearly three hours of bonus features for $7.99... and it's the corrected version, to boot. Even if their price is much higher than other stores I'm amazed that anyone would complain. I recall spending $19.98 for ADV's dub only, no extras VHS tape of GAMERA: GUARDIAN OF THE UNIVERSE when it was new so paying less than half that today for a loaded Blu-ray is a steal, IMO.

^ Remember when VHS tapes could run you $40 - $100, even for an older film? Ah, the good old days of movie collecting.

8 bucks? Huh. You're right. could have sworn it was ten to so when I first checked. And you've got a good point. I'm just extremely cheap.

Just got my new copy in the mail today and finished watching it. I don't recall seeing any missing or particularly delayed lines. It's about 99% perfect, which is to say almost none of us would notice if it hadn't been made so public. Somewhat interestingly, a few of the existing lines were changed. Early in the film when Ayana asks if she has to change her last name, I believe she said "It's stupid" or something like that in the initial version. This updated one has her say "I don't want to". There are a few other similar line changes in the movie. I'm completely satisfied myself. Got a nice little business card from Lyle Goff too, which is a nice gesture. Kinda personalizes Mill Creek's relations with the customer even when I spoke to no one.

Keep the case as a spare. Keep the disc as a coaster. :P I joke. You could give it as a gift if you know some young kaiju fans who will probably watch the dub, rendering the sub issue moot. I've gotten a few kids into these movies, they've still got appeal.

Unless this is just my player, we may have another issue on our hands. Just posted this over on my Kaiju & Tokusatsu on Video Facebook group:

Okay, I got the replacement GAMERA 3 in the mail today. Psychically the only difference is, on the disc there's a product code written on the right side; this same code appears at the bottom of the spine and above the barcode. As we speak I'm checking out the movie's subs. Seems fine so far, definitely not subtitles. HOWEVER, unless this is just my player, on the extras they F***ED UP ROYALLY. The subtitles are HUGE, and literally take up nearly the whole screen. I have NEVER seen anything such as this on a DVD or Blu-ray.

EDIT: Confirmed by Jeff Horne not to be just an issue with MY player. Here is a pic I took:

Wow, didn't notice that. I'll have to look at my special features, though admittedly I didn't much care for them so in the event I want to watch them I'll pop the original version in. Guess that'll have to suffice.

Yes other people across the web have posted similar screen caps.

Looks like I'll be holding out for awhile longer.

I can confirm that my new copy is like this for the special features as well. That's unfortunate and somewhat surprising as to how a product gets approved in that state. But as I said earlier I'll just watch the first disc if I want to see the special features. Not a huge deal so much as an inconvenience.

Is anyone informing Mill Creek of this issue? It certainly seems to need addressing.
