How should Godzilla be used and seen in this film

Postby JKN » Sat Jan 28, 2012 7:04 am

Self explaintory, In the first film he was Destruction and Death incarnte, It then turned into Hero of the world = Anti-Hero who doesn't give a single crap about humanity = Pissed off animal and then for some reason WW2 possessed zombie ghoasts. Darkhorse comics had him as a overgrown animal

Personally I want to see him as a Symbol of pure destruction and rage.

He's far more interesting to me as an antagonistic, but not evil, creature more concerned with his own interests but can be motivated to have a change of heart; basically how he was between King Kong vs. Godzilla and Ghidrah. He's a much more rich character and with more story potential then if he's just a one note dinosaur shaped explosion.

As a reluctant hero like in the mid '60s.

^That, but with shades of human emotional potential like his 90s portrayal.

Godzilla should be used like a broom and seen as a banana.

You spammy bastard.

I wanna see Godzilla as just MEAN in this one. Not intentionally causing destruction but when the military attacks, it's on.

Haven't we had this topic already like seven times, but with differently worded titles?

An antagonistic explosion shaped dinosaur with some emotional traits.

Yeah I'm with Gorosaurus on this. The title maybe different but we already have like three topics about this.

I love Godzilla's stupid happy clap, such a charming little character trait. I'd love to see it brought back.

The amount of turns and quick stops Rodan has makes me wonder how the hell did his neck not snap off all these years

Exactly, it looks like something a semi-intelligent (but clumsy and doltish in personality) creature would do.

I've always wanted to pick Nakajima's brain about how he characterized Godzilla for himself to portray. Things like that are distinct decisions made as an actor, since his little happy-clap is something that he does pretty consistently whenever Godzilla is amused by something.

Right on the money. Godzilla's character from KKvG through the Sea Monster is what I'd like to see them aim for. In and of himself, he's destructive and an immense threat to human civilization, but under the right set of circumstances, he may incidentally act in line with human interests.

I dig the claps as well but I don't see them coming back... not the in the LP film.
Now it's dark...
