Godzilla should def fight another monster in the movie, it was 1 of the million's of the flaws with the 1998 movie.. Godzilla is supposed to trash the military much like he did in the 1954 film. It's not known that Godzilla exist's at this time to the U.S. (if Godzilla attack's it) so there defense should be near useless.. An at the climax Godzilla should come across another monster an battle it out an both disappear into the sea.

Leaving it unknown if Godzilla is alive or dead, an the U.S. can start preparing more unique powerful weapon's for obvious future sequels in-case Godzilla or another monster returns.

This is how i think it should come about.

No, no, no and NO! I could care less (I'm sure I'm not the only one) to see a scene that was already done in one of the last Godzilla films released.

Rises hand. Eye. Please, as much as I like the Kiryu films let's let LP be original and not copy a film that isn't even 10 years old yet.

Agreed, lets keep in mind that this is an original movie not a copy of what has come before. On topic, I think they can get away with two monsters. Godzilla can fight them multiple times, changing his tactics everytime until enemy is dead.

It would be kind of neat if they somehow managed to buy the rights to some of the underutilized American giant monsters that were around in the same era as the original Godzilla so they could have a crossover. I'm talking movies that had a similar tone, like Them, Tarantula or It came from Beneath The Sea Those movies were able to be frightening without being explicitly violent, and let the viewer's imagination contemplate the horror. If not those, then maybe some of their Toho equivalents, only set to the same grim theme. Imagine if monsters like Kamakuras or Kumonga were treated with the same sense of doom and foreboding that the humans had toward the mutant ants in Them. Now imagine something like Godzilla coming along and annihilating the fearsome giant bugs.

What are the asterisks about? That's not just continuing the reference, is it?

I say around three, dream film: Anguirus, Rodan, Bagan. Only other I could see is Ghidorah, but Jury's still out on whether or not save him for later films.
