Pokemon team to survive the zombie apocalypse

Postby Inferno Rodan » Sat Jan 21, 2012 10:57 pm

Stealing a topic idea from /vp/. Also figured this was capable of generating enough discussion to be worthy of a separate topic from the main Pokemon thread.

It's the zombie apocalypse. You have a team of 6 Pokemon to help you survive. What would they be?

Rules:
1. No legendaries or Ditto.
2. This is a "if Pokemon were real" scenario, so no 4 move or PP limit but they can get tired, need food/water, ect.
3. You have no items aside from the 6 Pokeballs which contain your Pokemon.
4. These are your standard "slow" zombies. Shambling, dim-witted, etc.
5. Pokemon CAN get infected. Infection is transferred through bites.
6. Infection is like a poison status ailment. If a pokemon can't be poisoned it's safe (in other words, Poison and Steel types are immune). This includes Pokemon with the Immunity ability, but those with Poison Heal and such are not. Even if a Pokemon isn't immune by typing or ability, keep in mind the zombies have to be able to bite through a Pokemon's hide to infect it.
7. Infection (but not zombification) can be cured with a move that cures poison. Moves that restore HP can heal physical damage but not infection.
8. Pokemon can NOT learn TMs. However, they automatically know any HM they could learn, and pre-evolution moves, egg moves, and move tutor moves are available.
9. If a pokemon did something in the anime or manga then it can do it here. Things said in the Pokedex entries apply as well (ex: Luxray being able to see through walls).

Remember, your goal is to SURVIVE, not just go on a zombie killing spree. This means acquiring food and water for both you and your Pokemon. So keep that in mind when making your team.

My team:
Steelix: He'll provide the muscle, basically. He'd be able to fight off an entire horde of zombies single-handedly should the need arise. Could also dig trenches and such around buildings to provide a first line of defense. And he eats soil and rocks, so feeding him won't be an issue.
Tropius: Flight and emergency food.
Blissey: Healer and food.
Feraligatr: Fresh water source and aquatic transport. Would also be good for heavy lifting.
Rapidash: Fire source and land transport. I would have preferred Charizard or Arcanine, but Rapidash is more practical since he's a herbivore.
Galvantula: Power source for electrical devices. He'd also be useful for fortifying any buildings we stay in by laying webbing across doorways and windows. Could also help with capturing food.

No Legendaries? goshdammit!

Garchomp- He'll be plowing and eating up zombies. also, he moves to fast and hits so hard, zombies would be slaughtered with ease. That, and he's a useful air transport when needed.

Aggron- Heavy lifting +immunity to zombies+only needing to eat rocks=definite spot on the team.

Tangrowth: A walking edible salad... plus, it regrows it's arms when cut, so endless vines to cook and eat. Yum.

Salamance: eating up zombies, roasting them for safe human consumption, and roasting Tangrowth's cut vines to eat. He's manditory.

Lanturn: Free water and electrcity.

Weezing: Immunity to zombies, and can create a gas cloud that offers as cover for escaping, if necessary

So many rules.....

Aggron: Is immune to the infection and only needs to eat rocks. He's also the muscle of the team and can deal away all zombies by himself. He can also cave in places so all we need to do is hide in a cave for awhile. Plus he can protect us with... Protect.
Luxray: Can provide electricity and can see through walls, so that'll come in handy with finding zombies where we're hiding. Plus I could ride on him for land transport if needed.
Empoleon: Can provide water and swim, AND is immune to infection.
Abomasnow: Can create mounds of snow or ice to block off ways and slow down zombies. Can also make mist hard for zombies to see. Could also provide food.
Blissey: Aromatherapy and Heal Bell will heal infection from ALL Pokemon, and can sing the zombies asleep providing a getaway for us. Can also provide the food with Egg Bomb and Metronome could make any move that can provide food/defense.
Charizard: His breath can melt almost anything, so really helpful with fighting zombies. Smokescreen can block they're vision so they can't find us. If we're running he can make a rockslide and scary face could scare away zombies(unlikely, but could still work)

Plus all of my Pokemon will know those really helpful move tutor moves.

Aggron- Muscle of the group. Nigh impenetrable armor makes it good for a sentry.

Wailord- Basically a mobile fortress. Provides water as well and allows for travel out to sea where Zombies cant get us.

Slugma - Heat during cold weather and use it to start fires in order to cook food. Can also be used to set the zombies on fire.

Tropius- Generates its own supply of food AND can fly

Muk- Immune to zombies and can eat them as his own food source since he eats contaiminated items

Feraligatr- Back-up incase Aggron incapictated. Generates water in the unlikely event that Wailord is infected.

That's 7 Pokemon, you can only have 6. Which one would you take off?

Magneton- Powersource and can load with supplies. I don't think it eats anything but if it needs steel or something there is plenty around.

Charizard- Could burn hordes of Zombies without even getting close. Plus a good way to escape if overun. May be a food hog but an essential.

Gengar- Can walk transparently through the Zombies/ and can be invisible, to gether supllies without notice. I don't think he eats anything. Maybe souls so he can devour the Zombies or something. lol.

Blissy- Food and healer. Eats anything so should be fine.

Feraligator- Muscle, water, transport, fish hunter. What more could you want.

Galvantula- Web great for protection and electricity is a awesome bonus. Eats bugs so there should be plenty around considering exterminators are proabably out of business lol.

Charizard: Can cook meals, and fly, but on the offense side, it's like the ultimate defense. It might be able to work.

Haxorus: I see it able to slice through Zombies like it's paper. That, and some of it's dragon like attacks (Dragon claw, Dragon pulse) Are really strong.

Blastoise: It has a shell, making it tough for the Zombies to deliver a blow. That, and it seems like it can cause enough damage for the zombies.

Arcanine: Possibly used as hunting dog, or quick transportation.

Steelix: Like IR said, they're huge, and pretty tough on their own already. They might even be able to take out 10 or 20 zombies with a simple tail swipe. Just imagine the other attacks!

Rampardos: Another tough one. It's head is sturdy enough to ram into the zombies at full strength. That, and it can also work like transportation when it gets the chance.

Remember guys, the goal isn't just to go on a zombie-killing rampage. You need to survive. That includes keeping yourself and your Pokemon healthy.

When I trained a Steelix in HG, I bred it to have Explosion. As a side effect, it also got Rollout from its Graveller father. Can you imagine how freaking terrifying a Steelix using Rollout would be?

What a great topic. Quick question... Wouldn't ingesting the zombies automatically infect the pokemon? I know the infection is transferred through bites but I just had to ask.

Actually eating the zombies, I would say yes, except for Pokemon that are immune to poisoning. But just biting the zombies and such, no, that wouldn't infect them. Neither would blood splatter.

Also a couple other things that were brought to my attention that weren't covered in my original post:

10. You are not the last human. Humans are by far in the minority at this point, but assume there are strongholds were groups of people (and their Pokemon) have gathered.
11. There aren't any zombie Pokemon, just zombie people. This isn't the world of the games or anime. It's our world... some people just magically have Pokemon. Don't overthink it.
12. You start out where you live now.

Okay then. If I'm where I live, then me and a friend fight our way to our school and fortify a part or two of it. We'd be good even if only I have Pokemon.

.. Can I have a battle theme?

Steelix: For basically the same reason as IR.

Garchomp: To bite zombies and turn them into Pokemon. He'll pretty much help me rescue civilians in situations that Steelix is too big to help me with.

Blissy: Food and healer.

Tropius: Same reason as Gyaos.

Charizard: For cooking food and burning zombies at a distance.

Gengar: He'll watch over me at night and won't be affected by the zombies.

1. Nidoking. F*** yeah. One of the most versatile little beasts around. He can Surf me over water, create Fissures to buy time (as well as cause Earthquakes), and oast zombie hordes with his Flamethrower. Oh and guess what? He's immune to infection.

2. Stoutland. Everyone needs a loyal pokepup by their side.... Especially a speciaized rescue dog. Giga Impact makes him a good contender for the muscle as well.

3. Lapras. For crossing the seas and large lakes that Nidoking just can't do. Blizzard and Ice Beams freeze crowds of the undead. Generates its own water for drinking if water becomes scarce.

4. Machop. Machop may be unevolved and small, but the little **** can construct a shelter like nobody's business. A favorite Pokemon of construction worker and a valuable asset to defend against the elements. Also extremely strong... More than powerful enough to fend off a few undead.

5. Chansey. Keep those eggs comin' fatty. Softboiled works for food and Heal Bell cures infected Pokemon.

6. Krookodile. The real muscle on the team with almost no upper strength limit. For every enemy he kills, he gets stronger. Crunch away with your car annihilating jaws, my beauty. Sandstorm and Dig combinations for quick getaways. Also makes a great lookout, able to supposedly focus on very distant objects.

You CAN do that, but when the ultimate goal is to survive that's not a good idea. Unless you live out in the boonies or something, there's going to be hundreds of thousands of zombies just in your general area. No way you could eradicate them all before your Pokemon fall to exhaustion or succumb to the infection. And good luck finding enough food if your whole team is made of big, powerful, zombie-wrecking Pokemon.

Yes master. I honestly forgot that some of these moves are TMs. I just remember my Nidoking having Fissure and Earthquake back in the day

Torkoal- Most optimal Pokemon for fire needs. Not only will his fire work offensively, while being invulnerable to attack, his shell works perfectly as a stove, and can regurgitate boiling water for cooking purposes. Can also heat a house or campsite on cold nights.

Wailord- Was mentioned earlier. Great mobile fortress. He can travel around the water while fitting you and all your pokemon comfortably on his back. Can produce fresh water from his spout.

Electrode- Perfect for generating large amounts of electricity when needed.

Tropius- Can fly me out of negative situations and provides fruit.

Ursaring- Ideal for wildlife survival, capable of catching fish, finding berries, and frightening off most wild pokemon

Metagross- Perfect watchdog. It can detect zombies, enemy humans, and enemy pokemon from long range with is psychic capabilities. It is immune to infection due to its steel typing, and it packs enough power to destroy hundreds of zombies at once.
It isn't conderacting if i'm pissed.
