I don't see why the second would be a big problem for anyone. I like the first a lot better, but I wouldn't be crying if they used a saurian concept that was as faithful to the big guy as what we see there.

Zilla is an iguana made to look like Godzilla. The second, fake design is Godzilla's design placed over a typical theropod body.

Its a bit like apples and oranges in terms of design.

I guess I associate "plates" with something akin to what's seen on Stegasaurus, and the Toho Godzilla designs, and not so much the sharp protruding object not unlike the one's seen on Zilla and this fan design. Thanks for the correction though.

Like I said, I just don't want this new Godzilla to look anything like Zilla, whatsoever. It needs to be more like the Japanese Godzilla (a monster), and less like a giant animal, If that makes any sense.

But a giant animal, but the strictest definition, would be considered a monster.

Just came across this model kit on eBay. It's got a "GMK + G2k + extra spikiness" vibe going on, but I think it could be a damn good look for LP to emulate (just drop some irises in). Check it out:

I like it too. It's a 1954-based Godzilla kit, released by Honey Bones, and later by Atlier G-1.

CD, give him some irises and the classic maple leaf spikes and we have a winner.

Agree. Maybe tone down the spikiness just a little bit... just to make him a little less evil looking. Unless the LP script calls for an evil Godzilla.

Yeah, I stipulated Irises as well. That zombie look was cool to see once, but I wouldn't want to make it the defining look of a new franchise.

But... I do like the jagged spines. The ones on KiryuGoji really appealed to me the most. They could certainly tone it down a little, though. As a rough template, I give this a thumbs up. It just needs some tweaks. Compared to the "fissioning" and "spines & feathers out the ass" extreme designs that have been bandied about, I think this one really shines as a way to modernize respectfully.

Well, the spikes are already sort of maple leaf they just don't look like it at first glance because of how jagged they are which is a no no in my books. When they're maple leaf shaped you should be able to tell at the first glance, not the second because at first glance it just looks like the generic jagged spikes you see people sterotype Godzilla with.

Not to be a jerk, Legion, but did you bring anything new to the table here?

Sure, I've seen the design before, so have you apparently, but that doesn't mean everyone has. I like it, I sure as hell wouldn't be angry if they used it, but we all know that won't be the look. So what's wrong with people talking about it? Especially in a "rejected concepts" topic, y'know, where most rejected stuff HAS been seen before.

Don't know who has seen it before, but I wanted to talk about it now. Thus, consideration of the former was irrelevant to my posting it here. :huge:

However, no irritation was intended.

Alright, I get your point. I like the "jagged" spikes, but I also like a sense of regularity. Essentially, maple leaves are fine with me, I just prefer them on the pointy side. I don't need to see total randomness.

Keep in mind, I absolutely also like the Heisei, 1954, and many other renditions of the fins. So long as they aren't puffy silver pillows, feathers/porcupine spines, or GINO style wedges, I'll be relatively pleased.

I honestly feel like I've already seen this come up dozens of times. How many times are the same designs going to keep popping up?

I love this design. BUT make it crazier, I want hundreds and hundreds of spines and teeth and a few extra claws on his hands and feet! His scales look good maybe just need be a little bit spikier and stick out more. And add some pupils (never liked no pupils on GMK, yea I know, theyre actually supposedly there, just milky in appearance, but skreeonk me for never being able to tell the difference on my own) with amber irises, how else can he see without pupils? lulz. Then we have a winner, for my personal taste. edit: just realized there are pupils in the one photo of that model and they actually fit the design, but my alternate would be what I said earlier in this post.

Good thing that first one was fake. Too basic. The second one is leaning towards Zilla, bad sign. I say stick with the t-shirt design.

The one shown above me, that looks good. The feet are a little messed, but I can deal with.

Though the design is not all that I ever hoped for, it's definetly one of those designs I'd use as an alternative.
