No Grayshot. There are separate canons. In the case of G2K and GXMGG they're supposed to be direct sequels to G54.

Grayshot954 wrote:I thought it worked really well, even the tv series. The U.S. was ignorant of monsters until one bit the in the ... at New York. What followed was a series of giant creatures across the world arising from the real Godzilla's disaperance until Godzilla 2000. After that all the new arrivals stopped thanks to the resurgance in the pacific. He then reappeared in GFW and then in Godzilla Daikaiju. Duh.
But in the Godzilla canon I always thought it was very flexible except for a few instances.
Timeline:
Godzilla appears in 54 and dies.
New one appears and lasts until 75 where it mysteriously disapears.
New Godzilla appears and creates the Heisei timeline.
Godzilla meltsdown and Junior takes charge.
Junior, slightly deformed thanks to the radiation appears in Millenium and then in Megaguirus.
GMK is Junior, after being obliterated by black hole and regenerating into a more normal Godzilla form, taken over by spirits and returning.
GXM occurs one year later, Godzilla regenerates into new form, and fights Mechagodzilla for two years.
Godzilla is frozen shortly after and is in the ice shortly before being released by the Gotengo. Thus ending the Godzilla timeline.
Yes I skipped over a lot but this is what I always thought of it in my head. A really simplified version of course.
Godz wrote:If you really want to tie it all together like that, the 2nd Showa Godzilla dies and is replaced by a fully grown Minya. Imagine that...Minya becomes the badass Heisei Godzilla.

Inferno Rodan wrote:What "canon" are you talking about? It has no direct connection whatsoever to any other movies in the franchise. If you mean in the sense that it's actually a Godzilla movie... well duh. That's not exactly a revelation.
TokyoVigilante wrote:Fans and nerd culture as a whole put waaay to much stock in the importance of continuity. Continuity does not matter. If the story is strong in a self-contained sense and doesn't fit in with this-and-that other film, then it's still a good story being told.
