i know im one of those people who need help every step of the way but what is the best free computer program for dvd sleeves. All i am trying to do is crop the picture to the lenght of the dvd case but every time it prints it doesnt print it long ways (the only way you would be able to print this picture is long ways) so it comes out a lot smaller then i need it. I am using gimp 2 right now and it is not working. I also tryed printing it straight from windows media player but you cant do a custom sized print. AND im wondering if my Canon Mp240 Pixma printer can handle a glossy paper and if so what type of paper would be the best kind to get the best quality picture for my printer, i already know to use legal size paper but i want good picture results too. i would apreciate the help and that no one get frustrated with me because im completely clueless about this stuff, thank you

Try PowerPoint. Use a totally blank slide. Make sure the aspect ratio is locked (so it won't get distorted) and adjust its height to the proper amount. Make sure your printer is set up for legal paper (use file --> print to get to the options) and set it to high quality if that's an option.

Why couldn't you go to file? It's on the top left in just about any program, just below the title bar (File, Edit, View...). Or were you trying to do it from some interface on the printer?

i dont know why but its not there it seems all i can do is a quick print, but there is a utton on my printer that says 8x15 photo paper (the size doesnt matter because i was able to print the image without problems). there are also 8x11 plain paper and 4x6 photo paper for actual pictures so im thinking that all i have to do is change this setting on my printer to get good results for the cover art. and i looked it up online my printer is also made for printing pictures so now my only question is what paper do you guys suggest for a inkjet printer.

That's odd. At least you managed to get the picture printed in the proper size, right? And I can't say for certain what sort of paper to use, but any kind-of glossy paper with the right dimensions ought to work.

it turns out it doesnt work what happens is that the picture exceeds the border of the page on the power point and therfore some of the picture gets cut off. so lets say you go to the power point and you dragged this image from your home screen on to the powerpoint you will see that it goes past the borders of the blank slide and whatever goes over the slide doesnt get printed so its possble to get the legnth of the picture becase the length of the image is 7.25 and the slide 8.5 but the with on the slide is 11 but this image like 11.21. to wrap it all up i need to make the slide a little bit bigger so it can get the width of the image... any suggestions?

Hm. You're using Office 2007 or 2010, right? If you go to the Design menu and click Page Setup, you should be able to adjust the size of the slide. If anything else goes wrong, like the edges get cut off, try adjusting the borders on your printer.

never mind i got it!!! you use gimp 2.6 and then this has file so go to that and go to page setup. from there you select for paper size legal, at first i printed this legthwise so it came out being scrounched up with the legth of the paper, but then i went back and i realized they had the option to do landscape which will print it the right way.
- So all in all get gimp 2.6
-drag the picture from home screen to gimp page minimized (dont touch the size at all because its the right size, if you do the correct size in inches is 7.25 by 11.21)
-next go to page set up for paper size select legal
-(dont miss this because this is a big part that i first missed) then on the same page you selected the paper size set the print format to landscape then you can print
i want to try this but unfortunately i ran out of ink so if somebody else trys it tell me if you got it to print right

i cannot for the life of me find a place nearby that sells 8.5 x 14 inkjet photo paper in packages let alone single sheets and all i need is a couple to print these out so i dont need a lot of sheets. already checked at office max who doesnt even have these in packs or sheets and doesnt even do canon ink jet cartridge refills... but dont worry about the ink refill all i need to know is retail stores that sell the paper im looking for which i said above.

Eh. You could just use regular paper, it'll do the job. Photo paper just would've been shinier.
