Some monsters are only meant to be used once. Biollante's one of those in my book.

It'd be cool but I say no for the same reason. In Final Wars they messed most monsters up.Most of the new movies are messing them up or making a version that isn't as cool as original version.
EXAMPLE:Kiryu doesn't look as cool or is as strong as the other 2.

To be fair Kiryu at least actually had a personallity and could work on his own sometimes instead of just being an empty tank like Heisei Mechagodzilla. Please don't kill me PG.

I couldn't disagree any more fiercely. I see Kiryu as making up for the personality-less MechaGodzilla II design. Furthermore (as Living Corpse pointed out) Kiryu was actually a character, not just a bipedal vehicle. I actually cared about that machine, a living creature trapped in steel and exploited. Who can have empathy for a walking weapons platform?

Don't get me wrong though, I still like Heisei MG and it's Garuda.

I just like Showa MG and Kiryu more.

^ I get that. I come down hard on MGII sometimes (and it will always remain my least-favorite of the three), but I don't mean to suggest that it's totally worthless. As a mecha, it's pretty nifty. As a character, it's lacking.

Biollante.. No.... Given Toho's recent attempt's with new monster's or bringing back old ones they just aren't working (Aside from Gigan)... Biollante is a Classic, It's Unique, Powerful an in a weird sense beautiful an tragic.... there's no way to bring her back without it looking like a half-ass attempt to bring in cash$.

Toho needs New monsters LIKE Biollante, very realistic in both appearance an reasoning.. powerful but sad, an gentle an grotesque.. A great balance so the viewer can actually feel something for the monster.

There recent monster's have been lazy an mostly rehashes of older monsters. Although i'd be excited to see Biollante again i just doubt they'd do the character justice an it's best to leave her gone or let Legendary Pictures (if they wanted) use her in a sequel if it happens.

Hellspawn28 wrote:I don't see Toho ever having Biollante coming back seeing that she was a total special effects nightmare and that GvsB did poorly at the box office. The character never seem to be that popular, I doubt LP will bring back the monster neither.

The film was a box office disappointment for its day, but lets keep it in perspective as it did better than all of the Millennium films except G2K (about on par) and GMK. The movie is also well regarded by fans in Japan, as there was a reason it was one of Toho's first releases on Blu-ray alongside the original Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra and the most recent Godzilla film, Final Wars. That's a pretty lofty crowd, save the last one.

Still, the film is seen more as a fan pleaser and lacks the box office power of Toho's most well known characters, which they became fanatically focused on after Megaguirus flopped. So I wouldn't be surprised if she never graces the screen again and frankly that's okay with me. Making a giant rose work as a monster that isn't something to scoff at is damn hard, and its quite a surprise the 1989 film did it so well in the first place.

No ,first thing if they made one now, biollante would look all new and just different and she never showed up in space, so she probably couldnt survive up there. 8-)

I'd love to see a new take on Biollante. Bio is easily one of Toho's most impressive monsters, and I think it's a shame she hasn't shown up in more movies.

I think if Legendary decides to make more Godzilla movies, Biollante could be a perfect choice for them. With modern special effects and CGI, they could do some really nce work with a monster like Biollante. The original movie was hampered by it's budget and SFX of the time, but with some serious work behind the old gal, imagine it, vines crawling up skyscrapers, crowds running from the teeth-filled limbs, Biollante could look real good with modern SFX.

Also, it'd make a good "second enemy" for Godzilla, first he has to be established, second he must meet a challange as great as himself, third he must overcome something greater (Destroyah-SpaceGodzilla-King Ghidorah), then the legend is complete, and they can work from there.

They wouldn't necessarily have to use the same origin for Biollante. It could be created by Godzilla's blood being absorbed by some plant life. Or like the original, some scientist, seeing Godzilla's endurance tries to make a stronger plant, playing God ensues, and arrives giant plant monster. The having a human soul aspect isn't necessary, a standard "mutant" type story would do. To be honest, having the girl's soul wasn't really necessary in the first movie either.

Biollante is so tied to the one film that she appeared in that I really don't think the monster is ever going to come back. She's popular (in a cult sort of way, especially in Japan) but I don't think that popularity is enough for Toho to use her again as a main co-starring character. As far as LP is concerned, I'd rather see a much more popular, more iconic Godzilla foe show up. And for marketing/merchandise reasons, that's probably what we'll get.

Agreed. I wouldn't mind seeing Bio make a return, but I would much prefer an iconic Godzilla opponent for the LP film...

Yes an No, I love Biollante too, her roar was cool, and I'd love to see her make a comeback, but she isn't the right monster to face Gojira in the LP reboot, in my opinion, I'd like to see Godzilla fight Anguirus again

Like many people have said before me, Biollante would need to be done right. Her back story should span over at least 2 films, say Erika and her father are main characters in the first film, but Erika is killed in the second and Biollante is brought into the third, if it even gets that far.

That's way too many movies just to set up Biollante, maybe if it was the LP Godzilla that set up could work but a toho film that's not necessary.
